It depends on what is your definition of "intelligence".
In my opinion, society in whole is becoming each time more ignorant. War, war, war.. argh.

Of course intelligent people do stupid things. However, to answer your question correctly we need to get past 'knowledge', 'behavior', and 'social choice' issues. It is likely we are more intelligent now than 50 years ago as an individuals intelligence is influenced at the time of birth and early childhood nutrition. Both prenatal care and less stressful birthing procedures that have reduced oxygen stress during delivery have resulted in greater potential at the time of birth. Early childhood nutrition has improved child development, both in terms of growth as will as mental development. However, this only applies to the developed nations of the world, there remains a huge fraction of the human population who are denied access to modern medicine and good nutrition.

as a species? No. As individuals? No. As time passes we acquire more knowledge, but that doesn't relate to an increase in intelligence.

Acually, I think we're getting stupider over time. We're relying on technology too much Sure, you can e-mail instead of letter mail, but do you know how a computer works?

yes and no. we have made so many advancements in technology and medicine etc. but we could also be doing so much more, like not totally trying to melt the whole earth with global warming. so as i said, we are and we aren't.
