When I make plans to go out and do something fun, a few days in advance....I spend those few days with my stomach churning, trying to figure out how I can get out of going. When I actually go out and have fun its not so bad, but the anticipation of it makes me sick...
when I get a job, I spend the entire 8 hours Im there miserable, wanting to go back home. I hate being there, and I feel trapped...and when I go home, my stomach churns over having to go back the next day. I dread it and it makes me miserable. Im not lazy, and I WANT to work, but then when I get a job, I hate it so much, and being there makes me miserable.
why am I like this?

Social anxiety is the third largest psychological problem in the United States today. This type of anxiety affects 15 million Americans in any given year. Unlike some other psychological problems, social anxiety is not well understood by the general public or by medical and mental health care professionals, such as doctors, psychiatrists, psychologists, therapists, social workers, and counselors. In fact, people with social anxiety are misdiagnosed almost 90% of the time. People with social phobia are often misdiagnosed with other illnesses such as "schizophrenic", "manic-depressive", "clinically depressed", "panic disordered", and "personality disordered", among other damaging misdiagnoses.
As with all problems, everyone with social anxiety has slightly different secondary symptoms. Some people, for example, cannot write in public because they fear people are watching and their hand will shake. Others are very introverted and they find it too difficult to hold down a job. Still others have severe anxiety about eating or drinking in the presence of other people. Some people with social anxiety feel that a certain part of their body (such as the face or neck) are particularly "strange looking" and vulnerable to being stared at. Others experience extreme fear or procrastination of doing daily things such as going to the grocery store, bank, meeting good friends for lunch, or attending an evening dinner party.
It is these automatic "feelings" and thoughts that occur around social situations that must be met and conquered in therapy. Usually these anxious feelings are tied to thoughts that are entwined in a vicious cycle of negative expectations and negative appraisals. It is a catch-22 situation: there is no way out without the appropriate therapy.
Many therapeutic methods have been studied, but cognitive-behavioral therapy is the only modality that has been shown to work effectively. In fact, treatment of social anxiety through cognitive-behavioral methods has the capacity to produce long-lasting, permanent relief from the anxiety-laden world of social anxiety.

I do see social anxiety in your question. but I am wondering if there could be some depression. It is possible to have both.
Either way this is no way to live your life and you should seek medical help. See your physican and they may start you on some medication and or see a therapist. You should not have to live like this. So your probably going to dread going to the doctors but in the long run you are going to feel better . I do!!

I think it is because there is something about yourself you want to change. Something you don't like. You feel uncompfortable because you are worried about that. Maybe it is with you body image, maybe it is fear of saying the wrong thing, but there is something you are uncompfortable with about yourself. Go to a shrink, and maybe they can help figure out what it is, if you ca't figure it out on your own. But, don't make the appt too far in advance, you might give yoursalf an ulcer.

I am not a doctor, but its sounds to me like you have a serious anxiety disorder. Possibly Social Anxiety Disorder (Social Phobia) http://www.nimh.nih.gov/healthinformation/socialphobiamenu.cfm
or even Avoidant Personality Disorder which is a bit more severe and widespread over all aspects of someones life.

You may be in early stages of Agoraphobia. See your doc, and tell him what you told here. There are medications that will help you be less anxious.
Good luck.....and go soon, before it gets worse!
