You might find this interesting....
in pondering this very question recently, I asked the Lord about remaining faithful and strong in the midst of ridicule and outright hatred...and He showed me that while each attack will leave a battle scar, it will also leave a "badge of honour" if you will. I'm not sure yet what He is trying to tell me, as an award would seem prideful to me - but I think it has to do with courage in the face of persecution for His sake.

Christianity has many faults. Becuase the churches are run by men, people will always find fault, or a point to criticize.
But if you are a believer, you know that the church is merely providing a forum within which Christians worship Jesus Christ.
Last I heard, Jesus does not need to be defended.
He has already overcome all.
Just recognize that if you are a Christian yourself, the criticism isn't necessarily towards you, or even your church.
Critics are aiming their words at Jesus. Try not to take it personally.

Free speech? Freedom of religion? UN Universal Declaration of Human Rights?
@kitz - Wait, whoa! Lemme read that again. Are you saying that the reason you spread the good news is to make sure that all non-believers go to hell??

We do not have to defend Christianity, it is it's own defense. All we have to do is Preach and Teach the Word and the Holy Spirit will take it from there.

Shall we defend God?
So many ask "What would Jesus do?"
Why not rather ask, "What did Jesus do?"
I am certain that unless we understand Jesus actions and are prepared to emulate him according to his teachings as also apostles are want to do, there will be no defense.

Some people just won't listen. They have hard hearts that rely too much on their own stength and wisdom. Althogh they have questions themselves, they are unwilling to listen to anyone else's way of thinking. Simply testify of what you you know and have felt and leave it at that. Contending with people drives the Holy Ghost away.

I agree with John's post. "They will know us by our love." We, as Christians, must never lose sight of that... It's how we are able to reach people and gain their trust. We get nowhere by going around "spitting out another Bible verse" as another antagonistic poster mentioned...but he is right...
