There's nothing much you can do without a vet. If you can find an emergency one, they can provide the cat with pain relief until he can be sorted out by a vet tomorrow. To feed him, mash up tinned food with water until it is so sloppy he can literally just lick it. Don't be surprised if he doesn't want any tho. He will need to not eat tomorrow anyway, for the anaesthetic.
The vet will anaesthetise him to sort his mouth out. He will almost certainly need antibiotics, that swelling means infection. If he is obese this does cause a slight extra risk, although I've seen surgery on many obese animals and have only known one (a rabbit, which has a higher anaesthetic risk anyway) die from it.
It is not major surgery that needs to be performed, it is dental work, so go ahead and have it done as, as you can see, it's very important for your cat right now!
Good luck and hang in there, it sounds as if your cat will me just fine - and do ask the vet about how to diet your cat when he's all better!

Don't give your cat tuna, it's not nutritionally balanced for cats. If it can eat soft food, than give it canned cat food.
Don't give it ANY human medications either, even if it's "baby" medication, as they can be toxic to cats. One extra strength acetominophen tablet (500mg) can kill a 7 pound cat.
As for the pain, it sounds like an abscess. A lot of cats get tooth abscesses - sort of like when people need root canals. Or, if the cat goes outside, it could be an abscess from a facial bite wound. Most likely, you will not see the puncture wounds as they tend to be small and heal over quickly. Only problem is, the bacteria is still underneath the skin festering into an infection.
In any case, the cat will need to see a vet asap. If it is an abscess, the cat will be anesthetized and surgery of some sort will be done. If not, the bacterial infection could kill him.

Try to contact an emergency vet or animal hospital with emergency services. Sounds like a possible abcessed tooth. Very painful. It is an infection that needs to be handled very soon. If you can't get him to the vet until tomorrow, just make him comfortable...provide lots of water and nearly liquid food, so as not to irritate the mouth. You can chop up the food in a food processor or blender, and also add about 1/2 can of water to it (or more) to make it easier to eat and keep him hydrated.
He will likely need an antibiotic (prescribed by the vet only).
But don't freak...it could also just be something caught in his teeth or below the gum.

As for the swelling, there isn't really anything that you can do without a vet looking at him to tell what is wrong. However, if you just want to make him more comfortable until he cat get a vet, there is something you can do.
If he is still drinking water, it can help to buy some baby tylenol and dilude it in his water. When my cat wat spayed, she was in too much pain to jump onto the bed and sleep with us like she loved to do. We were told by an older woman who had owned cats her entire life to give her a tiny bit of baby tylenol. We did and it helped significantly. If you know approximately how much your cat weighs, read the dosing instructions (they're based on weight in baby tylenol) and do the math to see how much he should have. It can either be diluded in his water, or if you get the kind with the dropper, you can sort of squirt it into his mouth. He won't like it at all, and he will probably be a bit more sleepy than normal, but it will absolutely help with the pain.

well it sounds like some sort of infection, when was the last time his teeth were looked at? at 10 years old, its possible he has some tooth decay and it got infected. try to keep him eating and drinking, u can give him a little bit of cooked white rice if he's not eating much. take him to the vet as soon as u can tho, it sounds painful for the poor kitty.
