There is no question, belief in a fantasy god has to be eliminated from our society before we destroy ourselves. This is something we all can work toward. Is setting a goal a reasonable thing to do? Is 100 years too optimistic, or not optimistic enough? Remember, we have had some major shifts in acceptable behavior occur in far less time (civil rights for example).

Sounds perfect. I've been doing what i can to work towards this goal for a few years now.

Every community should have an atheist or freethinkers society, that would be a huge step towards this goal. If we can organize our efforts in order to educate the community it's a step in the right direction. Mind the inadvertent irony here but, it's David and Goliath for us. We need an effective sling.

The belief in god has taken us out of the Stone Age (and/or the Dark Ages for all you die-hard creationists out there) and into the Information Age. If we all stopped believing in god now, we'd just get stuck where we are now (and i don't know if you like society as a whole at the moment, but... its not that great)! Besides, almost all of us would never stop believing in god, even if it would (and I'm not saying it would) make the world a better place. Maybe it would stop the religious wars (i.e. all of the wars), but besides that, it wouldn't change much. We'd still be neck deep in all of the other filth, like racism, non-religious genocides and so on. Plus, the non-god worshiping religions like the satanic cults out there and the end of the world and alien cults would still exist. So, basically, almost nobody would stop believing and it would change almost nothing if they did. But I did just use the word almost, so i don't think your completely wrong in your opinion, but i do think that you just didn't think about it long enough.

Good luck trying to stop me from believing!

While organized religion has certainly been the root of much that is bad and wrong in our world, I believe that it's benefits for the majority probably outweigh it's faults for the extremist fundamental minority.

That is, I believe that many people *need* the threat and promise of God's punishment and reward, both in this world and in a potential afterlife, in order to help them decide to behave properly towards other people in the world. I think that there are more people out there like that than there are people who are using organized religion to justify behaving badly.

Why would you set a goal for yourself that you can't accomplish?
You'll be dead before 100 years pass, and who will continue your shallow belief?
I agree we should eliminate fantasy gods. They distract us from the real God.

It is difficult to elimiate something that doesn't exist. I will assume that you mean to eliminate the illusion of God. I would say 100 years is too optimistic. It will take at least 400.

I believe that God is wonderful and how can you get rid of the creator of the universe. he made all things even you so you need to shut your mouth before you fall under judgment.

We should have started 2,000 years ago.

No, if you value this country for its worth, then you would not eliminate God.
