Its possibly the safety of success and experience, but, maybe they just want the experience of an older man. Older man tend to know what to do to make a woman feel good, or special or they just know what to do and say.

It's very primal. Subconsciously the female is looking for the most secure base so that she can provide the best possible nurturing and protection of her future children. In today's society, we instinctively know that security= financial soundness. The older, established, more successful man is more likely going to be in a position to provide that. The woman probably doesn't even consciously realise that is why she is being attracted, but it's in there, buried in those ancient genetic triggers.
Oddly, the same process is at work when women are often attracted to "bad boys". The tough, aggressive, confident, "maverick" a few hundred thousand years ago, was the male who was most successful getting out there bringing home the dinasaur leg for supper, and defending his home territory, his mate and his offspring. Sure, another more rational part of our brains tells us this isn't quite the way things work any more. But, once again, the primitive genetic coding is still very much a part of the human blueprint, and we all know, don't we, that when those reproductive hormones begin coursing around our bloodstream, rational reasoning gets pushed into second place.
As humans, we're a pretty arrogant species, and we don't want to believe that we are still dominated by ancient "animal programming". But like it or not, we are, and it is forever only just below the surface of that thin veneer that we call "civilized behaviour".
PS. If you had a chance to choose between a loveable rich guy and a loveable poor guy, what's so terrible about picking the loveable rich one? LOL

Teenage girls are usually attracted to older guys because girls mature sooner than boys. So to a teenage girl boys her age will seem really childish and immature but a guy who's even just a few years older will have matured as much as she has and they will get on better. Of course most guys are still acting like they are a child by the time they are in there mid thirties. So most women don't have much choice but to go out with the older guy. By the time the guys her age have grown up all the women their age have gone off with older men, so they have to go out with the women who are younger than them. Who are of course are single because they cant find a decent man amongst their age group and the cycle will keep going on until men start acting their age, which isn't going to happen any time in the foreseeable future.

In my experiences--- younger women like older men becuase of several reason: One being that an older man typically is more mature, has more money, and can offer a little more sense of stabillity. Two: Older me have been around the block and thus tend to be more straight forward, direct, and do not play the games as much as when they were younger. Three: older men typically have developed a style and sense that makes them stand out as a more attractive partner. A female sees an older man and there is not much question to who they are... maybe a little mystery... but nothing like a young guy with his "homies" running around without any stand-out individuallity... Older men have placed there feet on the ground and no longer strive to be something they are not. Fourth-- Older men are typically better with reguards to romance and sex. They have practiced and practiced and came to find there nitch on the sexual ladder.

Why are women attracted to older men?
When a man is young, many obviously want to date more than one woman and younger men got no experience since in this field it comes with age too.lol Younger men are too needy and clingy. They would cry if their girlfriend has sex with another man.lol They could even kill someone in real life to prove how deep the love is ,then when they make a baby with the lady then things automatically start to take a different turn and tune,Sometimes a younger person looks at his girlfriend like a personal property lol. There are loads of scenarios where we guys have tried to order a girl to undress and get on the bed for inspection.lol Weird.
Older have been there and seen it and done it all.Older men just want someone to honestly spend the rest of their life with and from experience have learn how to handle women and to make them happy.

Well the father figure complex does come into it. Women need stability, someone who is grounded, an established person, who could provide for them.
But I know of many women who go out with men who are younger than them, or the same age, or older. It just how you feel sometimes.
It depends on how the woman viewed men in their childhood, if they see older men as good people, then they would use that template as the template for all their future relationships, same thing applies to the other way also, as women get older they want to recapture something and they use that template to choose the person they want.

Men who are younger are less experienced, less mature and typically less financially stable (unless they got a killer job right out of school). Women seek confidence, stability and maturity in men. Since it's no secret that women mature more rapidly than their male peers, ladies prefer to find a match that is older.
When I was in my 20's all I wanted to do is party, meet girls and show off my mad game (or the illusion of game). It really wasn't until my mid-30's was I able to shake off my insecurities, stop job-hopping and to settle down with one person. That takes a lot of hard work, discipline, tears and bouncing back from a lot of mistakes---a lot of growing up.
Women have a sixth sense of detecting a confident, strong man--a man that doesn't "need" a woman to complete him. That is especially attractive. Just look at celebrities like George Clooney, Johnny Depp, Joaquin Phoenix, any why women go gaga over them...they exude success, confidence, intelligence and maturity. That's something men just don't get until they are at least 35.
I still feel like I am still learning at 37. My old-school mom even said that a man doesn't truly come into his own until 50! Looks like I still have a lot of learning to do.
Women who are ready to fall in love don't want an immature clown, like Adam Sandler; they want the real deal--a Clive Owen or a Daniel Craig.

Since the age of 17 I have always enjoyed the company of older men. This is not only my choice but they are attracted to me were as most young lads ar quite intimidated by me. I had a rubbish child hood but do not believe all this rubbish about me looking foor a father figure in my relationships. i do like the fact that they are usually more established and know what they want in life. I wrongly think they are ready t settle down!

I can't explain it - I'm married to a man 26 years older than me and we've been together for nearly 18 years. I had a very good relationship with my dad who only died 3 years ago so I certainly wasn't looking for a father figure. Even when I was at school I always fancied older men - while my friends was lusting after George Michael (before we knew he was gay!) I preferred men like Jack Nicholson or Burt Reynolds (no accounting for taste!)
It probably is the maturity, they don't play games and you get what you see - i like the directness.

DON'T FALL FOR IT LADIES ...
Some men at 55 act like little children, whining, screaming and complaining. I don't care if they are the CEO of a company, they still can act like children.
Others at the age of 18 would be capable of caring for a family of five plus a sick mother-in-law.
Most people act their age.
The sexiest thing about a man is self-confidence, security and wit. Life experience can be a real turn-on, but remember, his life-experience will reflect the personality of the individual living it.
... and when men act like children they are very difficult to handle, because they actually are not children they are adults, quite set in their ways.
Some women are attracted to older men, hopefully for the right reasons.
Have a nice day,
Anne
