If you ingest a large amount of salt at once it will make you vomit. I've read in some health guide or another that you can induce vomiting by disolving a tablespoon of salt in a glass of water and then drinking it. If you look up survival guides you'll notice that they always warn you not to drink salt water if you are dehydrated, and in the few that give an explanation they point out that the salt will cause kidney failure which is fatal. So I'm guessing it depends on your current health, and the rate at which you ingest the salt. I doubt there is much evidence of anyone being killed by being fed too much salt simply because there are so many other poisons out there that work better.

My guess is it is possible in babies & those already ill.
I heard of an elderly man who swallowed the salt water he wife gave him to gargle & he had to go to the hospital but he survived. Fatal poisoning seems much more unlikely.
