the three large pyramids of Giza.
the main core of the pyramids at giza were limestone found on the plateau the outer layer was then covered in lime stone. this caused it shine brightly in the sun as the lime stone is polished and looked white. though much of the lime stone has since been removed and reused for building else where. The roof of the burial chamber was granite stronger and more attractive and the capstone or ben ben stone was covered in gold at the top of the pyramid.
However pyramids else where were built of different materials for instance later on many pyramids were built with a mud brick core and only covered in stone.
while the red pyramid at dashur was made with a red tinged limestone

The materials used were limestone blocks from various quarries, copper chisels to cut the blocks, wooden rollers to push/pull those giant blocks into place.
It is one working theory that the ancient Egyptian government turned the Pyramid building projects into a kind of civil service, recruiting farmers, fishermen, and laborers once or twice a year to work on the project. It doesn't appear that many slaves were used, and Jewish slaves appear nowhere in the Egyptian written sources or documents.
The Egyptian achitects who designed the pyramids were highly skilled and seemed to almost have Pi down accurately (but not quite).

there are a range of diverse theories. one is that: first they could kind of dig it out and lay the starting up. there ought to also be putting of the secret passageways and stuff, yet that would get replaced later. then they could initiate construction concurrently, making certain all 4 aspects were occurring a similar speed. it became an fairly tender operation; if one wall went too quickly or too slow, the full difficulty ought to crumple. so that they went about 3/4s of ways up. in the period in-between, different individuals should be making the right, on the floor. that they had crude cranes that would elevate each and every thing up, stick it on, and that is how the exterior became executed....... do no longer ignore that it is ONE theory, there are a range of others accessible.

It's made of limestone blocks, and used to be faced with smooth white limestone. The architects and workers were, ironically, Egyptians.
