Driving the speed limit is always a safe bet. And wear your seat belt. My sons friend was just in an accident where he was the only one of 4 boys not hurt because he put on his seat belt.

If you know it is an accident prone area , then slow down a little and be more alert to possible problems. Take a little extra care. People trying to speed through the area may be the reason there are so many accidents. Good luck.

No doubt, drive slowly. You will get more time to react in any accidental situation especially in an accident prone area.

driving slower and defensively is the best thing that you can do when driving in an accident prone area. unfortunately more aggressive drivers use the following distance that you've left for yourself as a place to cut into and weave through traffic. For me, when this happens at work and I am forced to stop shortly, I make certain that all you see in your rear windshield is a HUGE CHROME GRILLE and two headlights.

Drive at the same speed as the vehicles around you and keep lots of space between you and the vehicle in front of you (approx 4 sec),

Also STAY out of the blind spot of the other vehicles around you. If you find yourself in another's blind spot gradually adjust you speed so that your car becomes visible to that car.

Use your turn signals to indicate lane changes. Allow your signal to blink at least 4 times BEFORE you start changing lanes.

Be predictable.
