I have been a mormon all my life, and we aren't hiding anything. We share our beliefs with the world. If you are a mormon also, can you tell me how you feel? I don't understand exactly what rumors have been going around about our church.

If you have anything against mormons, please don't say anything bad. I would really appreciate it.

To Lisa A: No Mormon would try to baptize you if you didn't want to be baptized.

Thank you Divinity2408! Your answer is definitely the best so far! It is nice to meet other mormon people, I really don't like it when people critizize mormons. Thank you!

To Knutsaved: Our tithes go to the church to buy tools to build more churches and temples. Where would you think they go???

2007-04-01 07:43:24 · update #4

To Knutsaved: Our tithes also go to help people in need, like Divinity2408 who needed help when she was pregnant. We help people who don't have enought money to help themsleves. We also help to pay for the missionaries to go on their mission if they do not have enough money to pay for it themselves. And as I said before, a lot of it goes to help to build more temples and churches. That is the complete, and absolute truth.

To reereecreek: We are not hiding anything, and I am glad to know that at least some people know that. I would really appreciate it though if you did not call our beliefs "ridiculous." And no, Mormons are not Polygamists.

To Fire n' Ice:
Mormons ARE Christian. Christian in a simple definition basically just means a person who believes in Christ. Mormons definitely believe in Christ. Our church is called The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.

You may not be hiding anything. The leaders and spin doctors are though. I feel very sad that people like you are fed the slop that the leaders dole out.

If you don't understand what is being said, you will have to look at www.bcmmin.org and mrm.org to see what is being said. Remember that if an anti-Mormon source quotes your church's writings, it is true - despite what the leaders say!

Goldengirl wrote the following:
Just to let you know, the leaders in the Mormon church (LDS Church) are NOT lying to us! That is a VERY rude thing to say, and I would appreciate if next time you could keep those rude comments to yourself. No offense or anything, it is just offensive.

I replied that it may be offensive, but it is the truth. There is evidence to back up what I say. Mormons deny that they taught that Adam was God. Yet it and a whole other bunch of things is found in the Journal of Discourses.

Add to that, the president has a video on Yahoo videos I believe. In it, he says that some people do not deserve to hear the truth. That makes him a liar!

The Church leaders aren't hiding anything. Jesus said "don't cast your pearls before swine," and unfortunately, many members of the church today are not worthy of the deeper mysteries anymore--especially since they won't believe them.

I don't deny what past church leaders have taught. I am fully aware of what Brigham Young said in regard to Adam. So what? Everything he said about Adam is true. This is NOT in contradiction with anything else that has been said. His words just need to be properly interpreted, which most people seem to be incapable of doing.

Polygamy is a true doctrine, and is still in our scriptures--the 132nd section of Doctrine and Covenants. We never renounced the doctrine, and never will. We don't practice it at present, most likely because many people are barely even worthy of one wife. Someday, when the professed people of God are worthy, and their hearts are pure, the practice will undoubtedly be resumed.

Unfortunately, some anti-mormons know more about our doctrine than many of our members do. Most members don't really know much, and will deny certain things that were taught, because they haven't read up on it.

I've studied in depth the History of this Church, and these "strange" doctrines were indeed taught. And what do I have to say about them? They are true, every one of them. And there hasn't been one contradiction between Joseph Smith, Gordon B. Hinckley, and every prophet inbetween. Their words are all in harmony. Anything which seems a contradiction is really not, and is only a contradiction of your misinterpretations.

This religion is true, and will change the whole world for the better.

I don't have a problem with the mormon people cause there are good and bad just like in every race and religion, however my problem is the whole mormon religion and the teachings and Christian churches do the same thing and they do it for the glory of God and His kingdom we build churches we get people saved (which is the most important thing), we have outreaches and so many ministries and missions and food banks that the church I attend supports. morman is a man made religion and is not Christian in any way shape or form you can be the best person in the world the nicest person in the world but if you are not a born again Christian and live for God your going to hell and that is not judging anyone that's the truth its in the BIBLE.

I was raised within a Church that was also persecuted ritually with insults. I personally think it is that your beliefs are closer to the truth and get a lot of attention by negative spirits.
In the Bible, the demons know the names of Christ's true followers. So on a spiritual level, you are hated and the hater has no idea why they hate you.
I was surprised in the answers there was a Jew who admitted to hating you because you are 'bothersome'. I imagine that was partially Hitler's argument for hating the Jews as well.
None of it matters, if you feel God is a Mormon God then keep on being Mormon and be proud, people will hate you for any number of reasons.

People are biased against the LDS people because of ignorance and popular public opinion. This is evident from the numerous false beliefs concerning "mormons" stated within the domain of this Q&A site alone. It is very unfortunate that there are so many people who judge your group of people without any actual understanding of your doctrine (obvious from the questions list). I am not a member of the LDS church, but as a quantum physicist I do know that it is absolutely ridiculous to base personal views on nothing more then hearsay and speculation as if it were fact. I responded to this "question" in order to refute anyones "answer" that would presume to discredit the LDS church solely on the bases of material that was presented to them by someone else; If the prior sentence describes you, then know that those of us who possess even a minute amount of intelligence find such opinions to be equivalent to the nonsensical ramblings of an incarcerated and retarded drunkard.

I am Mormon and I also do not hide my beliefs.
Our tithing goes to many places. When I was pregnant and homeless other peoples tithings helped feed myself and my unborn child. They also payed for me to live somewhere and get on my feet. Now I have a healthy happy baby girl thanks to all the food I received form people tithes. Sorry I was answering the first response to your question.

It seems no one is mature enough to answer the question without being so negative.

I never thought Mormons were hiding anything - I just find some of the stuff you believe to be even more ridiculous than the basic tenets of Christianity. I can tell you one thing - a lot of people still believe that all Mormons are polygamists.

I am not speaking this in malice. But to call yourself the church
of Jesus Christ Latter Day Saints is a misnomer. To be a true
Christian you have to believe that Jesus Christ is God, the
second person of the Trinity. Your group does not hold to this
truth. There are others but this is the main problem.

People in general fear that which they are not commonly exposed to or view as foreign, for example how would folks who grew up and were surrounded by vegetarians view me, someone who eats meat? It hard to reach outside of one's own comfort zone, most of us get scared and retreat back to it. Pesonally I regard myself as Catholic, but most Catholics would disagree with my interpetation of Catholosism. Oh well I am getting of the topic now, live well and try to help someone else live well. Have you ever heard of "The Godmakers"? It's a book and then a movie made by Ed Decker, an ex-Mormon with a chip on his shoulder the size of Utah. He has made some outrageous accusations against us, and even today, most people still swallow them hook line and sinker.
