i am a solitary "practicer" of the craft but i need some help! lately i've noticed it's become a little difficult to keep myself from sending negativity in people's direction. for example, an ex-boyfriend went out of his way to frighten me on the street the other day. instead of just telling myself that "the universe will take care of it" and letting it go as i normally would, i actually felt the anger come out of me and toward him. i didn't like the feeling at all! does this ever happen to anyone? what can i do to control it?

This is when we learn to step back for a moment, take a deep breath and view the situation as a 3rd party. It helps put things back in perspective.
As others have said...we are not exempt from having human emotions.

Merry Meet,
This is just a human reaction. We all (humans) go through it and although some won't admit it, but feel the same things you do. I know when I run into my ex-husband (my kids's dad-sperm donor) I could quite easily slip into a euphoric transe of delectible tortures for him, but I have to nip it in the bud and stop those thoughts really quick. If nothing else will console you, remember his/their karma will come back and bite them hard, with or without our help...trouble is if we of this dedication try to 'help it' along some of the negativity will come back on us as well. Its best for our spiritual, mental and karmik (sp?) well being to do a special little ritual with a meditation and give it to your God and or Goddess and leave it there. Let them deal with the problem. I have to do that on a regular basis (at least once a week) when tourists with bad driving habits make me nuts!

P.s. May I ask how long you have been practicing?
I hope that helps!

Most wiccans and pagans I know, including myself live by "as long is it harms none" Sometimes it is hard to live by that as emotions and feelings get in the way and can overcome us. You may wish to join a yahoo group to talk with others. I find that helpful as a solitary pagan myself. Sometimes I go to rituals...mostly for the kids though. For now I recommend a spell or some meditation at your alter.

Blessed Be my Friend!

Simply meditate and cleanse yourself more often. Lemongrass incense has always been wonderful for me aiding to clear my mind and setting my thoughts in order.

When your body gets sweaty and odoriferous, ye take a bath. When your mind gets odoriferous, cleanse it as well.

And try to avoid the company of those who try childish pranks against you. If ye sleep with dogs you are sure to get fleas.

Perhaps your expression of anger IS the universe taking care of it. Benevolence does not mean you are a doormat. You are human and anger is a human reaction.

Practicing magic doesn't mean that you stop being human. Feeling anger won't do anything, just like you wouldn't actually go slash his tires, you shouldn't go actually try to cast a spell at him. Feeling you feelings keeps you in touch with yourself and the universe. Stop reading Ravenwolf, she'll make you nuts.

You are human my dear.
But I will tell you what works for me, quick and easy.
Pick up a stone when you get the urge, any will do, direct the negativity into it then throw it as hard and as far as you can.
Other than that, as the years flow by you will find it easier to identify and control

Try creating a mental shield around yourself. Tell yourself nothing negative can come in or go out. Reinforce it daily. If you're into this sort of thing, try linking it to a ring or pendant so it "appears" as soon as you put it on.

Id reccomend Astrau instead of wicca. Ive seen a house get cursed because a wiccan did not know what they were doing, the house leans funny and gives off a creepy vibe.

You just *stop* it. It's called your will, just fricking use it.

Look, it's great that you are interested in Wicca, but just because you LIKE Wicca, it doesn't make you Wiccan. Any low level Wiccan should see about 80 things wrong with your question.

Go to witchvox.com, look at the traditions page and if you want to remain a solitary AT LEAST go and find a tradition that takes solitaries and go and LEARN FROM THEM. The books or whatever you are using *now* are clearly confusing you if you can't tell human emotion from ritual energy. Go learn more.

It's natural to feel that way sometimes..after all..you are just human and have normal human emotions. In time, you will let go of your anger..it's just a part of healing.
