I have recently posted and had replies from Christians that say they don't wear Christian clothing, pins, bumper stickers, yard flags etc because they can't act "perfect". Did you know you may be the only Bible a person may see in their entire life ? I think we Christians should put up and put on outward symbols of Christ, I think that is what He meant by let His light shine.Yes, we can be kind, but so can non-believers and I think our job on this earth is to be available for those who want to know about Jesus and how are they going to find us if we put our lights under a bushel like Satan wants us to do, just like in the song, "don't let Satan blow it out". For those of you who want to answer with smart aleck answers, I'll just report you. I don't mind opposing opinions, just not smart aleck ones.

I think we all advertise something with bumper sticker or what our t-shirt says or ???? teens love to dress radical just to say "I'm not going to be like the norm" it is advertisement . I think everything we put on is advertisement in it's own way, trying to attract the opposite sex and tatoos and earrings, a lot of people judge a book by its cover, it's a natural thing for humans, unfortunately, it gets us all, so yes, I do think everyone is advertising something. Some of you Christians say you don't want to bug others, look at what you do advertise on your clothing, bumper stickers etc. I sometimes wonder if Jesus stepped up to you today, would you give Him the same answer you are giving here, the same "excuse".

Okay. I'm not being smart alecky here. What is Christian clothing? And is it really so important to show your faith so outwardly, like with the Jesus fish on the car? I mean, has anyone ever followed you home after having seen that on your car and asked you to tell them about Jesus? I honestly feel that all you're really doing is advertising your faith. And, no offense, but if some of the Christians I know were the only Bible I would ever see, I would end up being a pretty poor Christian. Most of them don't know the bible all that well. I thought being a Christian had more to do with your own personal relationship with God than making a show of faith. Does God love you more if you put flags on your lawn? I don't think that falls under the category of hiding your light. It was meant to mean not to be ashamed of your faith, not "don't not advertise that you're a Christian."

I do agree with a lot you say. but too, people have their own opinions of what most things mean, such as let His light shine.
I think you are right, that we should let more people know about God.
I find that , to much or to forceful tends to push people away.
Speak and preach about God, yes' but wear Christian clothing, pins, bumper stickers, yard flags etc is kind of extreme. and also makes religion look as if it was some kind of business sales.
I do think that many people that are in other countries that want to know more about Jesus and the county will not let them, these are the people that God is talking about, when he says spread the word or let His light shine. these people will be killed if they even try or ask, more about God. those are the people we need to help.
People in the United States can always go to church if they want. that is their choice. but the people that do not have any choice need our help.
Have you ever wandered why other countries do not want it's people to know about God? because usably, their God says to kill the ones that do not believe in his way. And our God says to love all. what do you think the people will turn too?
my point is, sure there are people here that can use help, but these people want and need help. in the worst way.
A lot of people say Bush was wrong. but he made it where the people in that country can read the Bible and know more about what Christian's are all about. so I do not see anything wrong in that. this is what I think the let His light shine, means.
and I believe this was Bush's task.
God wants his light to shine over the whole Earth.
this also the reason, I am here in Yahoo answers & questions. to try an explain and help those that do not understnd our ways and help them to understand that their God does not have to be one that preaches killing and and rule by torture and force. he is a God that cares for his people and wants us to help all we can.

The "light" that is being spoken of is the light of His love. When we live in accordance to His will and let His love shine out from us, then people will see the light. Some will accept it, some will reject it. I don't wear religious clothing because I can't afford it. But Christ has been lifted up once. The advertisement was put forth. If we lift Him up (i.e. take up our crosses daily and follow Him), He will draw all men unto Him. Let your testimony be your life and love, not a t-shirt or other things.

Personally, if people want to cheer for Jesus, they should do what they want. I just would rather people not come to my face and offer to "convert" me to their way of belief. All the wearing of pins and bumper stickers does is allow it to be a "wave" to other christians. Kind of a Jesus club thing. As for me, I would run the other way if someone came along with buttons and pins and clothing touting their religion - no matter what the religion happened to be. To me, it belies a close mindedness and narrowness of vision that interferes with my freedom of religion. Kind of like a non-smoker that leaves the room when a smoker shows up.

Letting your little light shine is for Evey saved Christian. Walking the walk and talking the talk is not just for inside the church, it is supposed to be part of a Christians Everyday Life.
"Jesus said if you are ashamed of me, Then I will be ashamed of you."
We are not perfect, we are forgiven. Let people know that you are a Christian and proud of it in the sense you are willing to share what you have..

We don't need the signs and bumper stickers etc. God wants us to live so that our actions and words ARE our bumper stickers.
We are imperfect people yes but we make every effort to live the way He wants us to live. If we offend someone apologize and move on.

"look at me!!! look at me!!! I'm a Christan and I have a fishy on the back of my car. Would someone PLEASE ask me about God, so I can show them what a good person I really am."
no no no....these Christan clothes aren't about "letting your light shine" ...when Jesus said that he meant being a true Representative of Gods love THROUGH YOU....not on you (or your car)...These "Christan clothes" are just for companies to make money...religion is a great way to make money off of vulnerable people that think they have to wear a W.W.J.D. bracelet in order to be respected among God and men. have a nice day

Jesus isn't under a bushel, so there isn't any point searching for him there. True religion isn't popular and those that have it are called and chosen. All one can do is answer questions when questions are posed to them. If someone is chosen of God and we are to be the instruments of their conversion, it will happen.

I think that's just kind of tacky. wearing a cross is probably all you need to let people know your christian. like someone a few below me said: some people can't afford these things and i bet your god doesn't look at you any diffrent whether your wearing christian clothes or just a cross.
