She is 35 and she has her belly button, cartlidge, nose, and tounge pierced. She wants her lip pierced, and she wants a evil fairy tatoo that i'm helping her out to pick out.

Is she weird or cool?

I'm a 35 year old mom. I have a 14 year old son. My belly button is pierced and I have a small heart tattoo with my son's name in it. I got the tattoo the week after he was born. I got my belly button pierced 5 years ago.
I don't think your mom is weird at all, and I'm sure your friends don't either. Depending on what she does for work, piercings can be really ok.
The fact that she is having you help her pick out her tattoo is really kind of like her asking for your approval and you probably can just talk to her how you are feeling. She sounds pretty cool and it seems like you have a pretty good relationship...this is what's most important.

Yer mom ROCKS! LOL! I don't know if I would encourage my daughter to get a tattoo or anything. Not until she's 18. But I am 29, have my tongue, and cartilage pierced, plus another 4 in my right lobe and 3 in my left-and 8 tattoos.
Why does it matter her age?
If you and your mom have a good relationship, no matter WHAT her appearance-who CARES what anyone else thinks of her!?

i think she is herself. however, i could be a bit prejudiced. I am the mom to a 12 year old son. I have several piercings (u dont want to know where) and 7 tattoos...
BTW, before you starting thinking I am some serious freak please keep in mind I am a stockbroker. I also raise my son w/o any assistance and he is spoiled rotten! Finally, I own a 4 bedroom 2 bath house. So, freaky or not, I might just be your neighbor!

If all this is some sort of mid-life crisis... it's a bit odd.

However, if this is just something she's done or wanted to do her entire life, more power to her. People often forget that their parents are individuals as well, with their own styles, tastes, and interests. Sounds like your mother is a character, and if this is just her being true to herself, it might serve you both well to accept it. I'm sure there are characteristics about you that she doesn't quite understand, but seeing eachother as people rather than just as the titles "mom" and "daughter" will help you to better understand and accept eachothers individuality.

I think it's pretty cool your mom is willing to do what she likes despite the reactions she may recieve for it. Families should learn to accept eachother, and simply love eachother more for the things that make them different.

There's no way to categorize someone because of their piercings or tattoos. You can't say someone is cool or not cool just because they have a tattoo. Although if a teenager(I don't know how old you are but in my experience) has a mom like that they would probably see them as cool and if someone has piercings or tattoo's they are usually pretty laid back which a very good quality.

its all about how she feels about herself and you feel about it. If you like that kind of thing, then pick your friends accordingly. If you really don't like this, then tell your mom. I'm not guaranteeing that she will take it the right way, but then you guys can be on the same page.

Just let her do her thing. But dont let her influence you if you are not that into the piercings and tatoos. You dont *have* to do it just because your mom is.

um, i think shes both...it depends from which perspective you look at it from, the thing that she is still not old and 35, and has all these piercing and about to get a toatoo, thats pretty cool, but the thing that shes a mom and has that and her daughter or son are older and not babies, thats pretty weird that shes a mom and has all these piercings etc

To be honest that is a bit weird. Have u asked her why she want all those things?
I am all for the piercing and tattos but an excess of anything won't look good.

Well, if you think that she wont look trashy with tons of percing and a tatoo, then, i think its pretty cool. If you think its trashy, then that wouldnt be so cool.
