How did evolution become a proven theory? Last time I checked it was false because of the evidence that goes against it....

What is your opinion? Beyond Belief Fact or Fiction? Solid or Fantasy? What is evolution to you?

Evolution is real to me. Look around at all the animals and yes they have found bones of ours and their ancestors. Look in any museum

If u are referring to the java man or whatever u wish to call it, then i would suggest u take a look at science and then read the Bible. For what? U don't understand, then maybe u should figure it out using science.

Evolution has some solid foundation and I don't completely rule it out. Those who say that god created everything is taking the simple solution to a question that is difficult to answer; that question is how did life, the universe and everything began? Evolution tries to answer the life part that question and although it is still a theory, there are lots of things in nature that support it. In the book of Genesis it talks about the creation of the heavens and Earth but does not have very much to support it. In my opinion. It comes down to faith and what you believe. I tend to swing towards evolution but the thought always pass my mind; was it all evolution or did something else happen to start the process? It is hard to imagine something from nothing. If you can't make something from nothing then something was always there. But what created it? God? okay then what created God? Don't be hatin' its just an opinion.

A scientific theory is a little different from your wild theories.

In common usage, people often use the word theory to signify a conjecture, an opinion, or a speculation. In this usage, a theory is not necessarily based on facts; in other words, it is not required to be consistent with true descriptions of reality. True descriptions of reality are more reflectively understood as statements that would be true independently of what people think about them.

In science, a theory is a mathematical description, a logical explanation, a verified hypothesis, or a proven model of the manner of interaction of a set of natural phenomena, capable of predicting future occurrences or observations of the same kind, and capable of being tested through experiment or otherwise falsified through empirical observation.

How did it become a proven theory that the earth revolves around the sun. Last time I looked into the sky the sun was rising in the east, moving across the sky and setting in the west, proving that theory wrong. All evidence goes against that silly sun-centered theory.

I say the ancient religious leaders were correct. The earth is flat and is at the center of God's universe. The sun moves around the earth and just as heretics such as Giordano Bruno were tortured to death for challenging this theory, anyone who refuses to come around to the teachings of the church by embracing evolution should be treated the same.

Last time you checked? Who are you kidding? Evidence that goes against it?

Frankly I'm sick of the way Creationists just lie about this stuff and pretend that 1) they weren't asleep or playing hookie from all their grade school science classes, 2) they have even a smattering of scientific interest or training, 3) that they haven't made up their minds entirely on the basis of their non-negotiable and insupportable contention that the Genesis myth is historical, and 4) they know anything about science they didn't read on the Discovery Institute web site.

You're entitled to your own delusions, but not your own reality and facts. Evolution is a historic and on-going fact. The Genesis tale is mythology for children, not science for adults.

Geico- So easy a Creationist could do it.

fact: things fall to the ground

Theory: Gravity

Why is it christians always demand "proof" when they have no idea what proof is?

In science, unlike in common usage, a successful “theory” is an overarching explanation that accounts for all known facts, hypotheses, and observations.

It is a fact, supported by millions of observations over at least 150 years that life has evolved on this planet. This fact of evolution did not have a scientifically satisfactory overarching explanation—a theory—until Charles Darwin developed his complex ideas. His explanation rapidly convinced the scientific minds of his own age and of every generation since then.

No scientifically supported theory of why life on this planet evolved rivals basic Darwinian theory. If there was a legitimate alternative, scientists would go to great lengths to win prestige by testing and developing the alternative

I'm sorry Disney Dude but I would like to know where you got this evidence that goes against evolution. Did you by chance get it from a church or christian?
Evolution is really my friend and been proven over and over again. It is so obvious that the poor Christians are falling back in time and are desperate to disprove anything that goes against their scarate book of contradiction.

you have it backwards. People did not think of evolution first and then look for proof, they thought of evolution as a way to explain the evidence that they already had observed. So there was never a time when evolution was unproven because they had the evidence first.

I study in the manuscripts (Christian):
This is where people get tripped up:
The Bible does not state that this world is 6000 years old; in fact, it tells that there are three earth ages, and that this earth is eons and eons old. In the earth age that was, satan rebelled, and started a great war.
God destroyed that age that was, and the earth stood still for countless eons of time;
then God rejuvinated it and made it ready for flesh habitation. That is what you read of in Genesis - the refurbishing of the earth, not the very first creation of the earth.
In those untold billions upon billions of years, all kinds of things happend here, and we find evidence of it all the time - dinosaurs and other fossils, etc.
There is no controversy between the truth of Gods Word, and true Science. None.
People feel they have to either jump onto one bandwagon or the other; they don't.
The evidence that our wonderful scientists work so hard to find, is great, and their hard work should be respected, certainly not mocked. Gods Word is also great and should not be mocked. Both coincide quite well, but the problem is that those with big mouths and the knowledge God gave a grapefruit are at the root of all this controversy. I believe the group is called
"creationists". The downfall of man is his lack of knowledge.

NOTE TO "AA GABE"; Read the first line of Genesis (1:1) "In the Beginning, God created the Heavens and the Earth". Notice the "period" after "earth"??? Now when did it say that God created it? It didn't - just "in the beginning". There is an entire earth age within that first verse. All three earth ages are in your Bible, 2 Peter, if memory serves me.

Sorry, the 'evidence' didn't hold up if you knew any science. Theories aren't proven in science, just very, very well substantiated.

Belief has nothing to do with it. Evolution happened, happens, will happen. It is observed, testable, predictable. It's solid science.
