If Atheists don't believe in God or the afterlife, then why are they so set on getting Christians to not believe? If God isn't real and there is nothing after death, then why would it matter what Christians believe?

Well, almost every Atheist I've ever met has been very adamant about trying to change my beliefs. That's why I asked. I just don't understand why they do that. I never force my beliefs on anyone.

Maybe Atheists are tired of Christians telling them they are going to Hell or that they are stupid. It's not all Atheists and it's not all Christians. However, both sides should learn to respectfully exchange opinions and agree to disagree. It's obvious that neither side wants to change. Name calling and insults won't make a difference.

Because what Christians do effect the lives of atheists. There are Christians who want to make everyone live like Christians whether they want to or not though legislation. This is where Christianity crosses the line between the human individual and the human collective.

Religious beliefs have caused great harm. President Bush has even said that we invaded Iraq because he said "God" told him to, and no Christians cried "Foul". Instead they've rallied behind a mad man with great power. This is more evidence that god belief is a detriment to life on this planet. The more atheists can help people to live in reality and leave religious fantasy the better for us all.

because christians try to get atheists to believe no matter what, theres a lot of stubborness on both sides of the issue here.

Then, you really don't know any atheists. For the most part, we are not trying to convert anyone. Most of the time we a spent defending our lack of belief or trying to stop some form of legislation that is obviously tied to religious morals.

Hell, you can believe whatever you want as far as I am concerned. That is how most feel.

Because Christians try to pass legislation in my country based on what they believe, and they get federal funding to go out and tell people what they believe in place of programs that would tell people the facts. For instance, Bush keeps funding abstinance programs even though we have the highest teen birth rate and infant death rate as a result of any first world country - because teens are going to have sex anyway, so you may as well tell them about birth control and protection. But since Bush believes that having sex before getting married is wrong, he won't educate the public that obviously doesn't care one way or the other.

When you place your trust in superstition rather than facts, everyone ends up suffering as a result.

Because Christians, specifically, won't leave us alone with their beliefs. Personally, I'm perfectly happy with the ones that leave me alone and keep it as a private matter, and I'll easily befriend them.

But when it influences the political system I live under, or when somebody's knocking on my door during my free time, or standing on a street corner yelling while I'm trying to take a peaceful walk or drive, that's a different story.

Are you sure because Ive never seen that happen. Ive seen plenty the other way around though. Maybe you think atheists are trying to do that just because we are voicing our opinions.

Rest assured that I have no intentions of telling you what you can and cant believe but merely giving my opinions.

I don't give a tin nickel what you believe in. I'm not trying to make you not believe. If your delusion is strong enough, nothing I could say can change your mind. So why do you care?

There isn't an atheist on earth who cares what YOU believe.

They just want to be left alone to believe what THEY believe, and not be evangelized to, and not have your religion forced down their throats by the government.
