Probably would depend on the person, some people can't always recognize their own faults, but can see the faults of others, While there are those that do know their own faults, but can't always see the faults of those closest to them.

If you can see someone else's shortcomings better than your own.....think about that. Because you probably have that very same shortcoming yourself. We always notice the same thing in others that we have. So before you say or do anything about someone else's shortcomings, stop and think about yourself and if you are doing the exact same thing. You'll save yourself a lot of embarrassment and you won't have to make so many amends.

On the contrary... I am great at seeing everyone else's problems, because I make a point of seeing and being perfectly honest about my own.

When I accuse someone of something or observe something in someone I always say that with the understanding that I can see it because I have been there or are there...

I am never accusatory without realizing the potential in myself to be the very same thing... Lacking that ability makes you delusional and unrealistic.

With purpose and intent... Self knowledge and understanding, is one of the greatest things one can practice... and it does help you become aware of everyone else because we are all essentially connected on certain levels... (if you are at all spiritually minded?)

The kinds of people who are oblivious to their own state and condition, are the ones that enjoy picking everyone else apart with no intent to actually help. and they are usually the first ones that will pipe up and proclaim that they are good people with loving caring hearts when they are anything but...

Like I always say when people ask me why I put myself down so much... "Because I am the only person alive who knows enough about me to do it right." and it isin't putting myself down so much as it is honesty.

Simple. When people stand in front of mirrors, they look only at their outward appearance. But when standing in front of others, they instantly and automatically try starting to figure out, "What makes this person tick?" Obviously, to know what makes anything work, you need to know about its insides. LOL, that sounds quite gross, but it makes my point, I guess.
Actually, MJ said it all in his Stranger in the Mirror!!!

Because it's easier to be fairly objective AND there is no inherent threat.

Its a little thing called denial...People are used to judging others, but when it comes to themselves, they are afraid to look in the mirror...
