Someone just said that evolution tells us how we developed, not how we were created, so does this mean that the 2 can go hand in hand, or does evolution just totally disprove the creation story?

The creation story disproves itself. Just the shear idea of creating this planet and all that's on it in six days is nothing short of stupid. Evolution was just the nail in the coffin for creationism.

Simple Evolution can be accepted by Christians and it is by many of them. The bible spoke in parables because the majority were illiterate at the time. Whilst the bible says the world was created in six days and on the seventh God rested the term day had no real definition then and could have been hundreds, thousands or millions of years long. The day as we know it is mans fairly modern invention.

The problem comes only when the Christian fundamentalists, born again Christians, zealots and extremists start spouting there cant. They are doing their utmost to turn Christianity from a religion to an ideology!!

Thankfully some good Christians are now speaking up and a British Dean said this weekend that too many Christians go through their lives failing to realise that God is about "love and truth", not "wrath and punishment".

Pretty much . Apologists can run around trying to patch it and plaster it but honestly, Adam and Eve, the divinely created pond sludge we all evolved out of, sucks.

Gary posted a set of quotes likely from a page of *answers in genesis*.
They are false quotes and basically amount to deliberate lying.
For Creationists to stoop that low demonstrates how weak their argument is.

For more information on quote mining please read this page here http://www.talkorigins.org/faqs/quotes/mine/project.html

The poor guy below fails to realize the Hebrews had perfectly good words to describe a longer indefinite period of time than a day. Their texts deliberately chose the specific term day meaning from evening until the next evening. Translators to English took extra pains to ensure that this was made clear.
You can see from these peoples arguments how desperate they have become in trying to save their faith.!

*Skiingstowe* better go back and check the truth. Evolution is a Fact and the Theory of Evolution describing how it works has been Proven. He just does not know any better.

Big Time (below) is presenting stuff that is untrue. Darwin never *recanted* and the monkey thing is a total fabrication.
Her attack on Darwin is both false and irrelevant.
Who teaches people these falsehoods, why are their preachers desperate enough to resort to lying about what is real.

THERE IS THE TIME OF THE PREPARATION OF THE EARTH

How would God or any one in a position to do so prepare an earth for habitation and eternal life. What kind of earth would allow eternal life?
What would the inhabitants need.
Gen.1:26 Let us make man in our image, after our likeness." WHO'S IMAGE?

NOW THAT MAN IS HERE, WHAT IS WRONG?
He has a life short at old age and full of trouble, it can be cut shorter as each man only cares for self, he will kill others and even a raging planet can kill, so life is a struggle, SOMETHING IS SO VERY WRONG?
We have a book to tell us all things, a few years before 6,130 years is up, we see evidence in the surface of the earth that is equal to the book it has a story that man can nearly figure out, but man is in a pathetic condition, he needs to know why.
If man was once different, better, he has changed to a less being.
So the simple tell all book is so difficult for him, he does not get it, even that the stuff in the surface of the earth is a simple story as well and some seek to know space, distance and times but it is everyones guess and the normal feeling is that ages in time is involved in all areas, it is, but the time from Adam is recorded as LOST to SAVED.

The most important time and information is given from Adam to at 6,130 years, to Rev.20:1-6,12,13; [ No Satan ]; all else is beside the point and can be known two thousands years in the future as being accurate, the most important thing now is being SAVED to know more or everything and have all needed to know it with. NOT AS WE ARE NOW.
Evolution has to do with the butterfly, I think, so where did the butterfly come from?

Even those who believe in evolution (who are here on R&S) miss the point. No, they aren't mutually exclusive. The only thing that evolution disproves is literal interpretation of the Bible, which was not done until the mid-eighteenth century. It has been a figurative book of the stories of a people for most of its life. There are many Christian who can rectify their belief with science, most Jews do it, and most Muslims do it. Its just the fundie wackos who are uneducated that can't wrap their minds around it.

Edit: Evolutionists may be arguing but scientists never argued anything. We just researched, studied and tested and found yet another natural phenomena.

There is no reason that God could not have created the universe and all of life AND have evolution be false. Both can exist... and there have been many who agree with the idea since a second in the eye of God is a thousnad years and vice versa. So seven days could have been 604 thousand years... or billion... who really knows?

This concept was a big push beinh the whole "intelligent design" which would pair these two concepts together. As Hawking concluded, we can see and predict everything that happened up to the Big Bang, but before that is the hand of God.

The fundamentalist creation story is just that, a story. It has never had solid evidence point its direction. Yes, if you choose the fundamentalist route, it has been proven impossible thousands of times.

"Evolution is a Religion because it has no facts to back it up.
Creation has lots of proof that supports the Bible and the earth history."

-Wow, this reminds me how blatantly fundamentalists wil lie without much thought. Evolution has more pieces of evidence than anyone ould count alone.

It's either one or the other, it can't be both. The earth and all that's on it developed along the lines described by the world's greatest scientists, logical, believeable, probable, with tons of evidence in laboratories all over the world.
Or else it was made by someone waveing a magic wand and Bingo, there it is. All in six days time.
Each of us has to pick one or the other, you either take the church version or the scientific version.

The whole process of creation is an act of gradual evolution and development from one element to another, reaching up to the variegatedness of the earth as so many trees, plants, mountains, rivers, reptiles, birds, animals and varieties of human beings. The quality of sense perception is also evolutionary, namely generated from sound, then touch, and from touch to form. Taste and odor are also generated along with the gradual development of sky, air, fire, water and earth. They are all mutually the cause and effect of one another, but the original cause is the Lord Himself, God, Krishna.

Sri Suka prays to Him as follows:
"O my Lord, Sri Krishna, son of Vasudeva, O all-pervading Personality of Godhead, I offer my respectful obeisances unto You. I meditate upon Lord Sri Krishna because He is the Absolute Truth and the primeval cause of all causes of the creation, sustenance and destruction of the manifested universes. He is directly and indirectly conscious of all manifestations, and He is independent because there is no other cause beyond Him. It is He only who first imparted the Vedic knowledge unto the heart of Brahmä, the original living being. By Him even the great sages and demigods are placed into illusion, as one is bewildered by the illusory representations of water seen in fire, or land seen on water. Only because of Him do the material universes, temporarily manifested by the reactions of the three modes of nature, appear factual, although they are unreal. I therefore meditate upon Him, Lord Sri Krishna, who is eternally existent in the transcendental abode, which is forever free from the illusory representations of the material world. I meditate upon Him, for He is the Absolute Truth."

Hi,
Let's get something clear here once and for all...evolution is a theory...just a theory. It hasn't been proven. If it was proven, that would make it science fact. But it hasn't been proven, so it's not fact...just theory. Sorry to burst your evolutionary bubble, but someone has to tell the truth here. The fact is we are here...like it or not. Now the real science to be done is finding out just how we came to be. If it was God that made us then so be it, but the real truth is we sure didn't evolve, and so far the science backs that up completely. So I have to ask you this. If it was God that made us, and we do find this to be fact after all, then we'll just have to accept that fact. Like it or not.
