The friskies cuts and gracy for cats are ok. They are not on any recall list, and the only food that is made by purina that is on the recall list include the Mighty Dog Pouches and the Alpo Prime CUTS cans. Nothing else has been affected by this recall - you are safe with the friskies cuts and gravy pouches. check out purina.com for any more infomormation you may need. hope that helps.

I spoke to my vet yesterday and he said NOT TO FEED ANY food that has the wheat gluten or wheat flour to our pets. I wouldn't take a chance with ANY gravy pet food product at this time. Now with Del Monte coming out with their recall, I don't trust that it isn't in human food too. The FDA NEEDS to release the name of the manufacturer!

This is what Purina sent me through my e-mail. I hope this puts ur mind at ease.
ALPO® BRAND PRIME CUTS IN GRAVY CANNED DOG FOOD
VOLUNTARY NATIONWIDE RECALL
No Dry Purina Products Involved
March 31, 2007
On March 30, 2007, Nestlé Purina PetCare Company announced it is voluntarily recalling all sizes and varieties of its ALPO® Prime Cuts in Gravy wet dog food with specific date codes. The Company is taking this voluntary action after learning that wheat gluten containing melamine, a substance not approved for use in food, was provided to Purina by the same company that also supplied Menu Foods. The contamination occurred in a limited production quantity at only one of Purina's 17 pet food manufacturing facilities.
Consumers should immediately stop feeding their dogs ALPO Prime Cuts products with the date codes listed below and consult with a veterinarian if they have any health concerns with their pet.
The recalled 13.2-ounce and 22-ounce ALPO Prime Cuts cans and 6-, 8-, 12- and 24-can ALPO Prime Cuts Variety Packs have four-digit code dates of 7037 through 7053, followed by the plant code 1159. Those codes follow a "Best Before Feb. 2009" date. This information should be checked on the bottom of the can or the top or side of the multi-pack cartons.
Importantly, no Purina brand dry pet foods are affected by the recall – including ALPO Prime Cuts dry. In addition, no other Purina dog food products, no Purina cat food products, Purina treat products or Purina Veterinary Diet products are included in this recall, nor have been impacted by the contaminated wheat gluten supply.
At Purina, nothing is more important to us than the health and well-being of the pets whose nutrition has been entrusted to us by their owners, and we deeply regret this unfortunate situation. We will continue to take any and all actions necessary to ensure the quality and safety of our products.
Please see our March 30 press release for more information and click here for an updated list of Frequently Asked Questions. If you have more questions or concerns, please contact our Office of Consumer Affairs at 1-800-218-5898.

I've emailed the company...this is the ONLY food I was feeding my calico, Sugar, when she mysteriously became sick very quickly and ultimately suffered and died from unexplained kidney/renal failure, in 2005!!! I believe this epidemic is NOT new...it has been with us for awhile now and may have been covered up to avoid lawsuits. I happen to have 5 pouches left from her food (I just found them packed away in a box with her toys). I want to have them tested but I'm not sure how to proceed. As I stated, I've contacted the company, however, they have NOT responded to my inquiry, no surprise there I'm afraid. Please do not feed your cat these pouch foods, sadly it is too late for Sugar!

No, they aren't on the list of recalls. Here's an up to date listing of all of the foods that have been recalled:

no they have not been. but id just stay away from all pet foods whose maine manufacterer dealt with menufoods.com or the company they got the wheat gluten from. companies that are 100% safe are eagle pack, wellness, innova, and merrick. anything else id just avoid cause they dont make their own food.

Anything with wheat in it you want to keep away from your pets. Contact your local vet or Petsmart to get names of pet foods that don't contain this.
