Brown the sausages- Start with 2 c. water and simmer the sausages in a skillet until water evaporates and sausage is browned on both sides.
Add the onions and cook until tender and browned.
Add apples and cook until soft.
Add carrots and cabbage, and beer.
Add the beef bouillon or some salt and pepper.
Cover and simmer for 1 hour or until the cabbage is tender.

Do you want to boil them on the stove, or grill them on the stove....or what?
They can simply be boiled like any hotdog, or they can be pan-fried.
If you skillet-grill them, you can do the bratwursts whole, or cut them in half lengthwise or into fat slices crosswise before "frying" in a bit of oil. (At this point, other ingredients could be added, and all braised for awhile.)
Or many wursts/sausages can be stripped of their skins before cooking, then cooked one of the ways above, or even crumbled or ground.
If that isn't what you wanted to know, describe what type of cooking on the stove you'd like to do, and/or how you want to use the brats after cooking.

The best way to cook a brat on the stove top is to boil them first in beer, onion, and red bell pepper. Boil the brat for 5 minutes remove from the liquid and place into a hot saute pan witha cover and brown them they are simply delightful this way.
