First: It wouldn't make a signifigant difference--we need real solutions, not PC symbolic gestures.

Sure, why not? Actually, if you accept the premises (I'm not going to get into that), the single greatest source of greenhouse gases are our cars and our two-stroke engines such as lawnmowers and recreational boats. You could include motorcycles, but as most of them get something like 200 mpg, they sort of overbalance the 'bad' with the good.

Walk more, take the bus more, ride your bike. Use a manual lawnmower (reel mower) and recycle. These are all good for you whether or not you care about global warming.

But sure, close stores on Sunday if you want. Small towns do it anyway.

Assuming that carbon is the actual cause of global warming (which is an unproven assumption), it would take over one hundred years for the carbon already in the atmosphere to break down. This means that if every single source of carbon output was ceased today global warming would not stop for another hundred years anyway.

People would have to believe that global warming is a problem, and they'd have to be willing to do something about it. Too many people are unwilling to make changes because they think that environmentalists are just being alarmists. We're selfish in that regard, and we care about convenience.

I think it's a good idea.
