I could name a few dictators we play with now and have done so in the past as well.
Unlike the decider in chief, some realize the need for regional dialog with states in the Middle East. The next Democratic president will have lots of damage control and foreign relations problems to attend to in the aftermath of the most disastrous administration in American history.

All the neocons celebrated the Nixon visits to China as opening the door to diplomacy with that communist country. We kept diplomatic presence with the Soviet Union for decades in the end causing the fall of that communist State. Now that Pelosi and others are trying to hold diplomatic relations with Syria it all of a sudden is wrong to have diplomatic relations with those who we disagree with. You gotta make up your mind Neocons!!! Do we promote diplomatic relations to avoid military confrontations or don't we??
