The IRS isn't exactly forthcoming about what triggers an audit, but I have noticed some common features for individuals: self-employment income in industries who deal largely with cash, large deductions for auto use and deductions for meals, entertainment and travel. For corporations, all of the above, along with high compensation for officers.
