Joseph was sold by his brothers to Egypt and became the governor. but at the end he told his brothers, (Gen. 45:5) "And now do not be distressed, or angry with yourselves, because you sold me here; for God sent me before you to preserved life" I mean its bad to sell your brother but this done because God allows it right?
Moses killed an Egyptian because he saw that the man is beating a Hebrew. I know that the action of the Egyptian is wrong but its not that you have to kill him. I mean he looked around...seeing nobody...he kill the guy and hid him in the sand. And this is the same guy that God asked to free his people from Egypt? Can you help me clear my mind on this?

God has said "It is better that one man shall perish than an entire nation perish in unbelief." I think that you should do whatever you can without killing another person or otherwise harming them. However, there are some circumstances where that is the only solution. I mean, if a mass murderer came and was going to kill everyone around you, would you just stay there and let it happen, or would you stop him? Which would you feel better about...killing this one man, or allowing that one man to kill everyone else? It's as simple as that. As sad as it is, sometimes these are necessary actions. However, these actions should ONLY be taken when absolutely necessary.
As to answer your question about how you can know if it is the will of God, that's easy: ASK HIM! Pray to God and ask him if what you are thinking of doing is what He needs you to do. Trust me, one way or another, He will let you know if it is. You'll either get some sign, or you'll have an incredible warm feeling all over, or something like that.
Trust me, you'll know.

Joseph forgave his brothers for selling him and said GOD LET THIS HAPPEN so I could preserve life. He did not say God looked upon their actions as righteous. In Egypt Moses killed a man for trying to rape or raping a young woman as I heard it explained. As God looks upon chastity as a great virtue he was justified in doing that also God knows what is in the heart of people and the Egyptian may have been going to kill her (or the person if not as I heard it). There for Moses was justified in what he did.

We have the entire Bible to give us the counsel of the Lord.
There is much there which gives us specific direction for our lives.
In unspecific things, we can make up our own minds.
Also, God gave the 10 commandments after Moses killed the Egyptian.
He will judge sin, wherever it is found.
He is also able to bring good out of terrible circumstances, because He is more powerful than evil and those who do evil.

If it corresponds with biblical teachings, then you can be fairly certain that it is of God. Sometimes, a leap of faith must be taken. there are situations that occur in which it is difficult to know what God's will for us is. We are not robots that sit around and wait to be told what to do. We are expected to take initiatives and act, but action should always be based on the wisdom of God. there are times in which we have no time to pray and wait for an answer and must act on impulse or die. Jesus was known more for what he did than for what he taught. We should be known for our right action and for out conversation. Any fool and sit around and run his mouth, but it takes a godly person to stick his/her neck out and take a chance. Sometime we succeed and sometimes we fail---that is all part of experiencing life and growing spiritually.

Moses, God showed through Moses that even murderers can be used in the will of God. Same with Saul, he persecuted the christians and then became Paul. This just goes to show you that God can turn anyone's life around and use him/her for His will.

Joseph, it says in the Bible that all things with God work to the good. That doesn't mean that all things are good that happen, but when your in the will of God, if u stay strong it will all work out for the good.

These are great examples of how when people seem at their lowest, God turns them around and uses them in great and mighty ways.

Cold hard fact of life! God's values are not the values of men. From my prospective, Gnostic, God does not punish, but disciplines and some times the discipline is hard to bare and hard to understand. Only in hind sight can we see what it was for. When times get hard I do not say, "God take this from me, but God what is the purpose of this. We should not judge the Divine will, nor should we blame OUR mistakes on Divine will.

You ask God about it. If you ask him with a sincere heart, will real intent, he will impress it upon you that the idea, thought, or direction you wish to go is the one He indeeds for you. He does not necessarily let you know the answer with a loud voice, like the rusing of wind; but rather, in a still small voice.

Well putting aside all the biblical references from yesterday and considering that this is today, I wouldn't put my power in an outside source... even someone's God. We have all the knowledge of good and 'evil' inside of us. Make decisions based on the heart and it is the correct decision.

The spirit inside would be comforted!!!!

What Moses did was not of God but of self. In the end, what did Moses NOT receive? He received punishment from this act. Do you know what it was?

Edit~ If you really want to understand.. answer my question.

All we have to do is be obedient to God and His word;and god will figure out how to prosper us given our circumstances.

And you'll know if something is of God by seeing if that something lines up with the word of God.
