Sterotyping here, after all he is German.
I liked John Paul II

He does look a bit evil, but so doesn't President Bush and Dick Cheney.

I think it's just you. Maybe!
I don't see him that way. When he smiles or speaks, his message alone can make his face shine. Not literally of course, but you know what I mean. I'm not catholic, but I seriously don't see and evil look in the Pope. I see peace, harmony, faithfulness and some others. It will be interesting to see if anyone else does feel the way you do.

Judging a person from outside appearances can be very deceiving. Although not a Catholic, I don't think people should ever be judged in this way. However, it is possible that you are comparing him to the previous Pope who had a very kindly and gentle face. We all get certain impressions about people from their general appearance but that doesn't mean with are right about them. Give the guy a break and see what he does.

I am sure catholics will think so before he dies.

he is willing to put things on the line and I also think he does not agree with much that is dictated by the Vatican

He sure stired up some hornets already and he was right in doing so.

I thought it was just me who thought that!!
Weird.

I'm Muslim, and I have respect for ALL religions, and I loved Pope John Paul who passed away because he reached out to Muslims and all religions--but this new Pope is shaaady.

I must admit that his appearance would cause me to be careful of him.
