Italy is full of dialects, some of them are quiet understandable, some other not at all. And so for who live in that region where that dialect is spoken. You really can learn Sicilian (which Sicilian? Catanese, Messinese, Palermitano, Agrigentino, Siracusano? Ennese?) only if you can pass the rest of your life in Sicily, not in a city, in a very deep Sicily. Ciao.

Sicilian? It'd take ages to learn it for an average Italian, imagine for an average American!;)
