Both are a simple fantasy.

I'm not saying that there is no afterlife, I'm just saying that the christian idea of it is simply nonsense.

Likewise, the christian idea of hell. I'm not saying that we can't create a hell if we try hard enough, but the idea of an unconditionally loving God allowing a place like hell to exist is nonsense.

The strength to believe in a better place gives a person HOPE to continue on.
the strength of Hell is the Justice of God who has the authority and power to send criminals and the unrepentant away and separate them from those that are holy.

the weakness of a christian heaven, is that what christian believe in is not pefectly true, so there are souls that will not beleive because of the doctrines of men and false hopes and false witnesses.
the weakness of Hell abides in the false notion that there is only one type of hell. also that Hell is eternall and without end. christians have this wrong also. Mortal men think that hell is a party, and other believe that they will reign in hell with devil and satan, this is wrong also, without Order there is anarchy and in anarchy there cannot anyone who rules.

Strengths: Heaven - You get to see your loved ones when you die. Any injustices that happened during this life can be fixed in eternity. Finally, people don't like the idea that they will "cease to exist" so heaven offers a comfort.
Hell - That people who deserve punishment will finally get it. That there is a place to go if you do evil, will movitive people to do good.

Weaknesses: Heaven, anything gets boring after 100,000 years. If it's the christian version of heaven, then god only rewards those who are too afraid to question him. Finally, it makes no logical sense.
Hell: It's fundamentally immoral to punish infinately for a finite sin. It would make God more immoral than Bin Laden and Hitler, who killed far less people and didn't torture them for as long. Threat of punishment for doing wrong isn't a very good deterrent and finally, just like heaven, it doesn't jibe with what we know about reality.

Strength: God said they exist. Weakness: Everybody's going to one or the other, and Christians, even if you could get them all to work together, can't convince everyone that Hell's no place to be. We'd be able to save a lot more than we're going to, but there will still be a lot of people in Hell who might not have been if the Church would quit putting petty differences of opinion first in priority, and get back to trying to evangelize the world.

Consider:
If his Dialogue writings really reflect his own thinking, Plato was convinced that he had an immortal soul. And his teachings soon began to convince others who revered him as a philosopher. As a consequence, Platonic philosophy was even accepted by second-century Christian writers. The Encyclopædia Britannica states in this respect: “The Christian Platonists gave primacy to revelation and regarded Platonic philosophy as the best available instrument for understanding and defending the teachings of Scripture and church tradition. . . . From the middle of the 2nd century AD, Christians who had some training in Greek philosophy began to feel the need to express their faith in its terms, both for their own intellectual satisfaction and in order to convert educated pagans. The philosophy that suited them best was Platonism.”

However, down through the centuries there have been distinguished dissenters against the Greek concepts of an immortal soul. The Bible translator William Tyndale (c. 1492-1536) wrote in the foreword to his translation: “In putting departed souls in heaven, hell, or purgatory you destroy the arguments wherewith Christ and Paul prove the resurrection . . . If the soul be in heaven, tell me what cause is there for the resurrection?” That is a logical question. If death is defeated by means of an ‘immortal and imperishable’ soul, then what purpose is served by the resurrection that Jesus taught and that the ancient Hebrew patriarchs believed in?—Hebrews 11:17-19, 35; John 5:28, 29.

Proverbs 19:21
"There are many devices in a man's heart (the weakness); nevertheless, the counsel of the Lord (the strength), that shall stand."

The bigest weakness is to say either exist. Hell will not be created until Christ comes again. When a person dies, he does not go to heaven. It hasn't been created yet either. Jesus said "today you will be with me in paradise" not heaven.

Our grestest weakness is also our greatest strength. To love someone even they did do no good to you. As jesus said in mathew;

5:3. Blessed are the poor in spirit: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
The poor in spirit... That is, the humble; and they whose spirit is not set upon riches.

5:4. Blessed are the meek: for they shall possess the land.

5:5. Blessed are they that mourn: for they shall be comforted.

5:6. Blessed are they that hunger and thirst after justice: for they shall have their fill.

5:7. Blessed are the merciful: for they shall obtain mercy.

5:8. Blessed are the clean of heart: they shall see God.

5:9. Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God.

5:10. Blessed are they that suffer persecution for justice' sake: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

5:11. Blessed are ye when they shall revile you, and persecute you, and speak all that is evil against you, untruly, for my sake:

As we do this one we become weak in the eyes of the people but great in the eye of GOD.................

My God bless you...

The strength of the argument is in the Bible. To realize this strength, you need to work backward. Your first question should be, "is the Word of God true?" From there, you can answer any of the other questions based on the findings therein.

My blog in the link below proves without doubt that the BIble was written by God through man and is indeed true. And I certainly would not bet my eternal soul that it is wrong.

The Bible says that hell is a real place--not a state of mind.

The Angel prophesying to Daniel said it was a real place...
Da 12:2 - And many of those who sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake, Some to everlasting life, Some to shame and everlasting contempt.

God revealed it to Isaiah that is a real place.
Isa 66:24 - “And they shall go forth and look Upon the corpses of the men Who have transgressed against Me. For their worm does not die, And their fire is not quenched. They shall be an abhorrence to all flesh.”

Jesus confirmed God's prophetic word to Isaiah three times!
Mr 9:44 “where ‘Their worm does not die, And the fire is not quenched.’
Mr 9:46 “where ‘Their worm does not die, And the fire is not quenched.’
Mr 9:48 “where ‘Their worm does not die, And the fire is not quenched.’

...and described it as a dimension of darkness.
Matt 25:30 "...cast the unprofitable servant into the outer darkness. There will be weeping and gnashing of teeth."

Jude spoke of it...
Jude 7 - suffering the vengeance of eternal fire.

And John in Revelation also described heaven detail.
Re 20:10&15 - And anyone not found written in the Book of Life was cast into the lake of fire...and they will be tormented day and night forever and ever.

I would not bet my eternity on manmade philosophies and against the Word of God.
