Glass epoxy, you can find it easily at an auto supply for gluing the rear view mirror onto the windshield.

use an epoxy glue for sure!! If you use regular glue..when you light the fire the heat will melt the glue. Then guess what happens?

try gasket cement. try it first on something else you can through away. they sale it in fireplace stores. they use it on the fiber to seal stove doors. it holds up very well to high temperature so it will not bee a problem. they also have a high temperature silicone that is clear. try heat safe brand or meeco

100% silicon, but also know... when anything is put on the surface of a mirror, you can see behind the object. put something up there and check this out...
