If your god is all-powerful and all knowing, why does your bible ONLY mention people, places, objects that are on the earth, and not anywhere else in the infinite universe? AND why your bible appears to be written by someone of average intelligence, with only the medical, technical, and scientific knowledge available at the time it was written?

Hey Joe, read my question again, and tell me where you see anything resembling 'overzealous atheism'
I've given no details of my beliefs/non-beliefs, and asked the question in a civil manner, yet you attack me AND my question.
Maybe you should direct some of that anger toward your church, which has aided and abetted, and been complicit in the molestation of thousands of young boys.

The Bible was inspired by the stories bronze age middle eastern goat herders were telling at night around the camp fire, playing to scare each other. Goat herders knew.... Goat herding and very little else. The places mentioned represent their universe. A small part of the middle east. There is nothing more to it.

Are you sure about the Bible containing "with only the medical, technical, and scientific knowledge available at the time it was written"? Because I'm not. Let's see:
Isaiah 40:22
"He sits enthroned above the circle of the earth..."
This was written prior to 400 B.C. Didn't most people believe the earth was flat until just six hundred years ago?
Job 26:7
"He spreads out the northern skies over empty space;
he suspends the earth over nothing."
Could this be interpreted as the "invisible axis" our earth turns on? Job is one of the oldest books in the Bible. It takes place right after Genesis 14 (even though it's placed much later in the Bible).
The Bible also says that only God knows the number of the stars. How did they know that there was more than what they could see?
You can find these and others at this site:

Then, take all the prophesies of the Bible, ALL of which came true (save the ones in Revelations, which are yet to come.). The mathematic equations regarding this happening by "chance" have been placed at IMPOSSIBLE.
Yes, the Bible was written by man. However, many of the concepts in the Bible are FAR beyond what men could imagine at that time.

Ok first of all, WHAT other people in the universe? Do you have summer vacation photos with Orion slave girls? That sore rectum of yours was NOT an alien probe, and I would start locking my bedroom door at night.
Star Trek is a TV show and not a documentary.
As for who wrote the bible. Each book was written by a different author. Some of it is simple and straightforward, some is written in verse. If it seems simple to you, it is because it is meant to be understood. Not to showcase someones vocabulary , penmanship or sentence structure.
Which medical and technical knowledge are you referring to? Are you saying that God doesn't exist, because the bible doesn't mention the starship Enterprise and tricorders?
If you don't believe in God, that is your choice. Overzealous atheists are as bad as overzealous Christians. The reason you try so hard to convince people that you are right is because deep down, you fear you may be wrong.

Yes, it is another logic they would not consider. The bible only presented the limited information of the world because it is written by people with limited information. Their god did not even mention there are other civilizations. They would conquer the world based on this belief that their god told them to spread his words. If their god is all powerful and all benevolent, would he also start it peacefully with similar words? Instead he allowed this one group to force the belief onto others. And this group is not even the original chosen one.
The bible also described events similar to those from other religions around that time in the region but shunt the validity of those religions.

Because the bible is meant to be our guide through this life. What happens on Pluto is of no consequence to life in this earth which is why the focus on this earth......you say the bible was written by someone of average intelligence which is showing your ignorance of bible history. The bible was written by several people of differing intelligence. Luke was a physician, King David a King, Peter a fisherman....but all was writing by the influence of the Holy Spirit of God which makes the bible something you should pay heed to.

Some have eyes, but cannot see.. Revelation tells you a lot about heaven and what it'll be like. God created the universe, and only lets us know what we need to know. The Bible is written by the people filled with Holy Ghost. Your average intelligent person without the Holy Spirit cannot be compare with your average person filled with the Holy Spirit.
Open your eyes, and you will see.

because the Bible was not written to give us some secret scientific knowledge or to tell us about the universe. The Bible are God's words to us about how we should live here on earth and why. When we die and go to heaven, I believe we will be able to explore all the things we were never able to when on earth. So the basic answer to your question is, that was not the purpose of the Bible.

Because the Bible wasn't meant to be a scientific book. It's a book about the relationship of God to his people.
It only mentions earth because that's all it needs to mention. It was most likely written by people of average intelligence...but superior spiritual understanding. That is something that transcends logic and intellect. You have to be smart enough to grasp it.
The spiritual information we gather from the scripture is timeless. You can spend your whole life learning from them. People continue to learn and grown even after 2000 years of reading this same book...that should prove something right there.

My GOD is everyone and any ones GOD who chooses to accept HIM. HE chose average people to do mighty works to show how with GOD nothing is impossible. Perhaps HE only mentions things of this earth because our minds and comprehension are incapable of understanding infinite knowledge.

Mr. Skyhawk:
Your first question reminds me of a fellow who asks a medical student why all his books are about medecine.
What should one expect?
The Bible was provided for people on earth, to explain earthly things, to show how earthlings can get along.
It sticks to theme.
Your second question is simply in-accurate.
I beg of you to do research beforehand.
Isaiah 40:22 speaks of the earth as circular.
The knowledge "at the time" was definitely not that point of view.
Nor was it for a long time afterward.
Isaiah was ahead of his time!
Job 26:7 speaks of the earth hanging on nothing.
That was way ahead of its time!
