Well, I can't answer for all people, but I can take Americans and try to explain. Americans are used to getting everything quickly. Whether its our food, our wealth, or our information we expect, and get everything quickly and efficiently without being concerned as to whether the information we are receiving is quality information or not. Therefore, we rely too much on the American media, which obviously has its own agenda, sanctioned by the government. The American government, logically, does not want the media to focus on depicting Islamic nations as positive societies because then too many Americans would start questioning the war on Iraq along with other exploitation policies implemented against other areas of the Muslim world.
Fortunately, there are some Americans who do their own research and come to their own conclusions about Islam that is in stark contrast to how the media portrays them.
I'm lucky in the respect that I know some Muslims and they are wonderful people. The vast majority of Americans probably don't know any Muslims so they have no practical experience to apply to their opinions.

Wahhabi ideology is cultish and against Islam.
Islam is too perfect to be reformed, it is a set of coherent guidelines that fit perfectly with one another and do not clash.
It is those who give lectures at the mosques that need to be reformed.
There are two kinds of knowledge that have been made compulsory for a muslim:
1. Fard Ayn: the essential compulsory teachings: religious education.
2. Fard Kifaaya: the rest of the teachings that make a human human: scientific, natural sciences and their education.
When the Golden Age of Islam was at a downfall, Europe was coming out of the Middle Ages, and there was a good reason for this. The Imaams had stopped preaching the importance of Fard Kifaaya (science) and had made a grave error, by preaching only about religion.
Which is when, Muslims and Arabs, started falling big time.
And Europeans took the scientific teachings Muslims had discovered and began their rise. Which has continued to this day.

Eh, i'd like to say first the lines aren't divided well enough. You'll see people bash the mormons or jehova's witness or catholocism...etc, but they won't use those claims to bash all of christianity.
One "muslim" is the same as the other to most people when its not like that really. Different school of thoughts, different sects, etc. If a redneck made a claim on tv in america, no one is gonna take him to serious, but if a guy in a suit does, he's gonna get more respect. Rich arab and poor...they all dress the same to some extent. YOu can't tell if an arab talking is a professor or a guy who married his own sister.
Also, i think people are jsut like that. Some are calm and rarely get riled up. Others just like to cause problems. Some people need somethign to be upset about or hate.
People also can never be or do wrong. You can't tell someone their view is not hte right one. You see that even in people's own religion. THey'll do somethign thats considered a sin and jsut say, oh well i dont' think its that big of a deal.

Yes, the Bible does declare that Gods says "vengence is mine". The Word also declares that God sets up leaders and takes them down. The fact that Bush is defending America does not make him not a Christian - it makes him a leader doing what he believes is best so that we don't get our buildings blown to hell, and our malls don't have suicide bombers in them on any given day. I'd like to remind those who are reading this, that since 9/11, there haven't been any. Why? Because Bush chose to fight them somewhere else instead of allowing it to happen on American soil. Thats what a leader does: He protects the soil and the people of the Nation he leads. So far, we have not had any occurances here on American soil, and that is to the credit of the Administration of Mr. Bush.
You can say what you will about the man, but he's far from blind; the reason you and others hate him is because he's acting like the big guy on the block. Well, guess what!
WE ARE THE BIG GUY ON THE BLOCK.
If you don't like it, tough, thats the way it is.
I'm sick and tired of those who gripe and complain that America wants other governments to act the way we say. What we want is governments that can be worked with peaceably. We don't like war anymore than any other Country, but if a government is working at the task of destroying us, then that government is gonna either change, or we will come in and change it for you. You should thank God I'm not in charge. I would send in my Military Generals to Iraq with one order: Take this Country into hand; do whatever is necessary to bring it to absolute order, and deliver said country to me by such and such a date. period. Trust me, it would be done. The only reason there is so much crap going on in Iraq, is because politicians like the democrats are wussy. They think we should speak nice words to terrorists, perhaps serve tea.......
If a government is a terrorist one, we should give them a timeframe to clean it up; if they don't, we blow them up; no war reparations. Then, when they get themselves together and form a new government, this is the message: it better be a government we can live with, or we'll come in and blow that one up as well.
No more pussy-footing around. You have no idea how patient Bush actually is.
You would really like our Christian President to act like a wus, wouldn't you? You are the one who is blind.
As far as Islam goes, I am sure there are wonderful Islamic people. Unfortunately, two things are a problem: first, there are extremists within the religion that want to kill our children; second, those radicals are actively trying to push the islamic religion onto the American people, because they know they can't get us any other way (Because Bush is standing guard, mind you); so they are trying to do it sneaky:
by infiltrating the American public - Its called divide and conquer, and is nothing new.
Take your Islam and go back to whereever
you come from; this is a free Christian Nation and will remain so until the return of Christ, at which time you will be judged by the Living God; its not my job to judge you,
but it is all of America's job to be smart enough not to buy into your obvious attempt to bring us down. Won't happen.
Go home.

I have no problem with moderate Muslims. Live and let live. But would you admit that Wahhabi fundamentalism is violent, dangerous and intolerant? Does Islam need to reform itself to reject the many clerics who are teaching hatred and the mistreatment of women? You may not think this is "true" Islam, but the preaching of hate is very common Islam.

you are absolutely right. People should educate themselves and have an open mind, get to know people for who they are then the world would be a much better place. I have nothing against any religion and it is wrong to stereotype.
think about it...... are our jails and prisons in America filled with Muslims? or so called Christians????? the second answer is correct...... have made my point

I would like to quote the following verses from Holy Qura'n As it is said for totally ignorants
Chapter Ya-Seen #36 , Al-Qura'n
36:8. Verily, We have put on their necks iron collars reaching to the chin, so that their heads are raised up.
36:9. And We have put a barrier before them, and a barrier behind them, and We have covered them up, so that they cannot see.
36:10. It is the same to them whether you (o Muhammad) warn them or you warn them not, they will not believe.

Your own book, the Koran, does the very thing you are criticising others for. Mohamed got all his information about Christianity from a heretical monk (yes, I did my research) and so the Koran is full of false statements about Christianity. Islam was formed as a reaction to Christinity and Judaism.
