I think it's pretty obvious by now that illegal immigration hurts any country (whether it's the U.S. or the U.K.) in many ways. I am all for stopping illegal immigration, and doing it humanely, but it seems like our government is too focused on foreign problems. What can we as average citizens do to make our voices heard on this issue? Do we need to write our Senator, our Congressman, the President? How do we make our voices heard?

I would like to align myself with an organization that is firm but not extreme. Frankly, some of the organizations that I've looked for on the net do seem racist, don't really seem to offer any solutions, and just seem content on complaining. I am all for a humane and fair way of handling this, but we've gotta stop being wimps. We need more action and less complaining.

I like your point of view, and it seems similar to mine. Illegal immigration is a problem that must be stopped, but we most do it intelligently and humanely, not with extreme measures. The key in solving the issue is in improving our immigration system referring not only to security, but also making it easier for people who want to come here, and legalizing those who are already here through a selective process. It's not about rewarding criminals, it is about avoiding another huge flood of illegal immigrants. I've always said that if we send twelve million home today, we will get twenty-four million back tomorrow. Also notice that this is NOT an amnesty, since border security would be strengthened severely, and all those who pass the requirements for legalization and pay a fine have to go to the back of the line and wait an undetermined period of time. In amnesty they get the citizenship right away. This is my stand point, and I believe it to be smart, comprehensive, and addressing the problem, not the people.
The way you as an average citizen can help is by calling your congressmen, senators, etc.

ps. as you see most people here only want to deport all illegals and enforce the laws, but this is an incoherent idea that won't lead us nowhere. It will only provoke even MORE illegal immigration.

First you have to take the time to know what your fighting for. Research this from all sides. Find out why illegals are here in the first place. Find out about the immigration process.

I dont think it is really a matter of the US or UK cant handle immigrants, it is a matter of our Immigration systems needing reform. That is the bottem line. Our own laws are hendering this process.

The most humane way to stop illegal immigration would be to declare all kinds of immigration as legal, making the term 'illegal immigration' to be useless.

As for voicing the voices to politicians.

They already know about the situations, so there's no need to contact them to tell about the situations.

Feel free to send them ideas though.

As for handling all kinds of troublemaking immigrants.

I think that what most people don't like are troublemaking immigrants, who can be legal or illegal. Most people probably don't care about the legality of immigrants, as long these immigrants don't make trouble.

How to handle troublemaking immigrants?

Well, a community can do the following things to handle troublemaking immigrants:

- Watch on the current population of the community, knowing every one of them. Like a good neighbor, you should socialize with others.

- Watch on the people who go into the community, knowing every one of them. Like a good host, you should socialize with new comers.

- Every trouble maker should be give more special attention and care, so they wouldn't cause too much trouble to the community.

- Escort out every trouble maker who have made too much trouble to the community, and is ordered to not come back to the community .

If your in the United States - have you looked into "NumbersUSA"?

I call my rep's all the time. I talk to others about the problem and try to get them involved as well. I have found out that people from all walks of life and color are very concerned about this issue.

Keep up on the issues. When your rep's are having public talks and there is a possibility to asking questions - go and ask questions.

Do you know of places where illegals are known to be hanging out at to get paid under the table jobs? Turn the information into immigration.

It may not seem like much - but if everyone started getting involved things are going to start to change. Problem is that most do nothing - or at best only complain from the seat in front of their computer. Get proactive. Get involved.

We as legal citizens of a nation must make our politicians accountable for any and all actions that have an adverse affect on the populace.
Stop reelecting the same people that our not on the side of the majority. Research the candidates find their voting records on the issues and wake up others to facts that matter. Yes we must be heard and that means action. Write,fax,e-mail and call the government. Let them know of your dissatisfaction with their policy's. Boycotts, peaceful demonstrations, recall campaigns, all are effective tools.
To sit back and do nothing is brain washed sheep like acquisition .
Acquisition is defeat and will destroy any nation.
Fight the power or you will be living in a third world nation where you are a stranger and success is an impossibility.

Write letters to your congressmen & women, your governor, anyone that represents you. Turn it in if you know for a fact that someone is an illegal alien. Don't support businesses that are known to hire illegals - boycott them (and pass it on to your friends, too). Try to buy products made by reputable companies, and produce from local farms that don't hire illegals. Write letters to the editor. Support businesses, politicians, and people that are trying to fight illegal aliens. Don't forget to vote.

I know it all might seem like small stuff, but if everyone were to do it, it would have a huge impact.

Being since as most Americans aren't mean or violent concerning this, our actions do seem mild, but I still hope going about things the right and legal way will pay off in the end.

I joined various groups and they aren't racist even though people want to say they are. I write constantly to my reps. and Senators. Alot is keeping up with every bill put in place in your state and with the government. Sounds easy...but it's not. They are always trying to slip in something here and there or fast track something in before the people have a voice in it. So it helps to be involved in various groups. Rightmarch...Conservative Alert.....FAIR......Numbers USA....ALIPAC....You don't Speak for Me.....Minutemen....plus various groups within your state. Some just inform you, some give you access to fax and e-mail or numbers you can call. ALIPAC has focus groups in which members find out and work on things involving their state or what's happening in their schools etc. So you may be writing letters or calling everyone from principles of schools to mayors on down the line. There's letters to the Editor, calling in to talk shows. Most of all it's arming yourself with facts. People have started their own sites as a result of all the poeple killed and have dedicated it to the families of those victims. People are video taping those illegally crossing the border, or violence at the marches and town meetings etc. Mostly it's getting the TRUTH out there so people don't fall for the victim spin of things.

This is something that is affecting so many people and they need a place to vent. So I wouldn't be so harsh about thinking they are just sitting around complaining. Patience is a virtue and there's alot to be said about knowing when to act and when to back off and what the most benefical avenue is. Trust me....when they put an action alert out....people respond. It's just not as immediatly news worthy as a march. Not as visable. But effective. There's been alot that has been stopped that people may not know about that has an impact.

I understand the frustration. I plugged away at this alone for years. I was honestly getting to the point where I thought I was the only one seeing what was happening. The March was a wake-up for people and from that point on is when I got a computer and starting to see I wasn't alone and there were millions out there like me. Same stories, same impact, across the country. And then like you pointed out.....across the sea as well. It's not a race issue as much as people want to claim it is. If race was the reason.....then why are they having the same problems in other countries who have uncontrolled immigration and it's not latinos invading their country. We'd be the only ones complaining.......but we're not.

They've tried nice, accomodating......it doesn't work. Hasn't worked here either. Same hateful attitude, same issues......same falling quality of life. Same displaced hate from 3rd world people to 1st world people.

All we can do is what we can do......I will not lower myself to their standards even though there's times it takes every ounce of effort not to. I'd love to see the millions of us take to the streets and I'm ready when it's time. So far....everytime they take to the streets they shoot themselves in the foot. They have done more against their cause than anyone. The old give em' enough rope and they hang themselves. They're dangling. And they did it to themselves.

Seriously....keep checking out various sites or atleast the material to keep yourself up to date. It's a slow process but a worthwile one.

Call your reps in Washington, let the businesses that you visit that you do not approve of bi-Lingual signs, stop buying at stores that cater to them. When you go out to eat ask if the cooks are illegals! If you do eat out and your waitress is illegal, give them a tip in pesos. The foreign problems are just a way of them side stepping the problems we have at home. if enough people complain, they will have to listen. What it all boils down to is the money you spend at stores or businesses that hire and cater to the illegals is money that supports these people that trespass in our country. Stop doing business with them, simple as that, hit them where it hurts. Look at it like this, if you shop where they cater or hire illegals then you are a part of the problem!
Anything worth having is not easy to get, anything worth keeping is hard to hold on to, we are loseing our country, our heritage, Our childrens future. Its hard to stop shopping at places like walmart, just make sure when you have to go, let the manager you do not approve!
