I have a digital camera and a laptop that I use together ofter. However sometimes I'll take a photo and cannot download it. It says there is an error, and it's an unreadable file. Most of these photos have been shot outdoors, but it doesn't always do that. How can I fix it?

To fix error on Sd card of a digital camera seem difficult. There isn't any problem with pc but it could be the sd card. Therefore, before doing anything get new one. Then try once again if you get same error it means you got problem in Digital camera. In that case if you still have warranty period send that to the maker or shop from where you bought that.

I hope this information could help you.

You are using windows XP ? windows should recognize the memory card as a drive on "my computer" you should be able to access the pictures from there.
