After 9/11 Americans were suddenly faced with information they were quietly unaware of or knew little about. The death of 3000 people who were just living their lives and the demonstrations that occurred in Muslim countries woke up America to a danger they did not realize existed. As happens with people everywhere, the pendulum has swung from center to a place where Muslims are suspect. Many Americans realize that only a few are terrorists but how can they tell them from the many when the demonstrations in Muslim countries included 100s? Americans are not the kind of people who can be bullied. The attempt to intimidate them has created a mistrust of anyone who could be affiliated with the terrorists.

Americans are very good people but most Americans get their information from the Media. The Israeli lobby by most studies done on the subject control most of the Media Establishments. The Israeli Vs Palestine issue is misreported by the USA Media for years. When a Palestinian dose any thing against the Israeli occupation he is called Muslim terrorist but when Israeli kill hundreds they are called defending their right to exist.

The Bible at some places seems to forbid judgment, and in other places calls for judgment.
Christians are to not shy away from describing evil as evil.
Christians are to expect a very high level of good behavior from fellow Christians .... to be good ambassadors of Christ.
We are to hate the sin, and love the sinner ... which is extremely difficult to do ... I certainly have lots of room for improvement.
We are called to inform people that what they believe and/or do is sinful in God's eyes. That certainly can come across as hateful, but is actually caring (if done with love and respect rather than scorn).

The same reason they feel justified in judging gays and even government programs and thought. They feel their way is the only right way and everyone else is wrong.
Quite the sense of superiority a lot of American's have.

Many Americans get their idea of the world from made-for-tv movies and news broadcasts. Consequently, they have a very twisted notion about nearly everything.

Honestly speaking, the reason could be because americans are taking advantage that most of the terrorists across the globe are Muslims. I think its amlost 85%.
Though america themselves involve in more henious crimes in the name of war on terror (vietnam, aftanistan, iraq, iran etc etc etc killing tens of millions)
