Innocence and ignorance ARE THE SAME.

Its about not knowing.

Kids are born innocent. Let them be innocent for as long as life lets them, life is tough and hard on several kids in our world. Many kids nowadays grow up because they have to, through the neglect and abuse of adults, but that doesn't make them any wiser or better off than those that don't.

Kids learn as they grow through the advice and guidance of a loving parent or parents. Life is a learning path so why rush them. There is no such thing as a stupid child only a stupid adult and some of your comments ain't exactly the comments of a healthy adult!!!! Get help

Innocence and stupidity are really not the same thing at all. I guess parents in their own way want to protect their kids from all the pain and hurt in this world. We as parents hope nothing will ever hurt them and we will always be there. I have realized that we cannot do that at all. Everyone has to make their own mistakes and sometimes find out the hard way. If only they could learn from other peoples mistakes.

As a parent, I know that I have no absolute control over my children. I can not control what they are exposed to in life outside of my home to a certain extent or their behavior. It would be ideal if all children maintained their innocence at the same pace but that's not the case. Being a parent, I value my children's innocence because I want them to enjoy their lives and childhood because when it comes to time for them to face this world, they face a real challenge. So, my motto is for them to enjoy youth while they can. The only option we have is to educated our children, and being innocent is not the same as being ignorant. Eventually everyone is exposed to the ways of this world and they will have the insight into these things. Besides, ignorance is bliss! Just Smile and Wave Boys... Smile and Wave.

Innocence doesnt have to be dumb ya know, my kids are very innocent but they know way more about the dangers in this messed up world than any other kids their ages, in fact their friends come to me for advise, ive always said id tell my children anything they asked to know about in a way they could understand and that is what i have done . i was an innocent but dumb person it took a lot of pain and hurt before i learnt , so i learnd the hard way, i didnt want that for my kids. They are nice , sweet kids with a good grip on reality and the world. Myself and my children are respeced where i live for being nice honest people.

I have a feeling the innocence you are talking of is not the same as the innocence i try to keep my child's own till she is older. I tend to answer her akward questions. Most adults keep children innocent because they have no way to explain ambiguity. Which is what the adult world is all about really.
They learn slowly.
She don't watch television though. That is what would really make her vulnerable to the stupidity of just becoming another drone of consumer society.
Anything for an easy life. That answers your question i would say ...

Its something they used to have and miss those days they were innocent. Its not stupid to be innocent. Some parents try to delay the inevitable by perpetuating their parental rights to shield you from yourself and peer pressure. In most cases this does back-fire and they end up hurt in the long run because now their child doesn't regard their influence as of any value. You're right in the sense that they can't and shouldn't try to keep their child sheltered from the experiences good or bad that in the end define their child and how well that child will do in life! As long as this child is not contemplationg doing something stupid or dangerous or illegeal. then I see no reason fro them to hold you back. It didn't work on me and I won't do that and haven't done that to my son. This behavior ruined my relationship with my parents and instilled resentment and dislike which transformed into rebellion and soon after trouble. Try to think things through before doing them and always remember to love your parents because they are all you've got! (for parents)
You don't have to like their tactics but I insist that you respect them and their experiences cause you may learn something beneficial. They just want what is best for you according to their preferences which may not be to your liking, and you wouldn't hurt anything by stating this fact to them. What you do and did worked or didn't work for you mom and dad, but I'm different and you need to respect that and give me the chance to experience life like you were able to! Again as long as its not dangerous, senseless, stupid or against the law! Good luck!!

It is called protecting a child from harm. When you become a parent you will probably understand. A baby is born completely defenseless and vulnerable against everything. You as a parent are completely responsible for keeping this child safe. As the child grows you let the child have a little more freedom and a little more responsibility. For instance you wouldn't let a three year old cross the street by himself, but you would let a seven year old.
Some parents tend to be a little over protective of their children, while other parents tend to pay little or no attention to their children from the time they are about two years old.
Children whose parents don't try to keep them out of harms way often end up on drugs, arrested for various crimes, molested, maimed or killed.

Something that is innocent can be inherently intelligent (i.e non-stupid), for example a plant is pretty intelligent compared to a rock.

When something represents a state of 'innocence', it can remind us of a time when bad habits and dishonesty were not present, and this can be theraputic to witness. So many people lose faith in the potential of the human being as they become hurt by dishonesty and other traumatic events.

I have raised my oldest daughter with complete and total honesty. When she asked where babies came from at 6 years old I told her where they came "from" not how they were made, that was for a later discussion. We are honest about boys, sex, the world, crazy people out there, everything. If you raise a sheltered child you are risking massive rebellion. I was very sheltered, never had anything discussed with me and I REBELLED big time. When they know the facts about situations they are more likely to come to you with their questions instead of their friends. It makes for a more open and honest relationship when they are older.

we parents don't keep kids vunrable ,they are born that way, what I (as a parent )try to do is make sure they are not forced into growing up to soon..Childhood is the happiest and most carefree time of your life,no- one should lose that before there time.once you become an adolecsent you are waighed down by worries,"am I fat,am, I to thin,am I ugly, will i pass my exams"?Etc etc and that carries on thru to adult life all that really changes is what type of things worry you.
The kids that are running around the garden or playground today being sports stars or superheros will in a few years time be worrying about mortages, credit cards ,careers, relationships
Don't take there childhood away from them as they will grow up in there own time anyway.
Hope that explains your question
