Yes it will "work" if you are truly repentent. But you will spend a long long time in purgatory. Additionally, you cannot know you will have that "death bed" opportunity. You could die suddenly with no chance of repentance.
God loves you, he died for you but he is not a fool.

If it is sincere ....YES! But just remember that as a christian you have already stood judgement. BUT we still have to stand before the "BEMA" seat of Christ where he hands out our spiritual rewards.
It's not all harps and clouds buddy. If that is your plan I would rethink it. You can't be sure that the breath you are taking now isn't your last. Eternity is a long time to be gambling with it!

Thats OK If you come to God in the end, all of heaven will rejoice and you will be given mercy. But remember, most die instantly. Death come as the thief and then its way to late. So why not come to Him now?

yes, yes and yes...all you have to do is make sure you say the words " i believe in jesus!" right before you die and everything will be forgiven...but if you get hit by a bus crossing the street and dont get to say them...oh boy!
