Jesus said if you broke one commandment then you have broke all of them. The commandments are Do not lie do not steal etc.So if you stoled or lied which all of us has lied at one time in our lives than you are a killer.does this not humble us?

What I am trying to prove is that none of us are worthy it is only by God's grace are we saved. And Jesus was trying to show us that we need to have compassion for others when they error instead of putting them to the fire.Vengience is mine saith the Lord.I am not taking nothing out of context this was the whole ministry of Jesus,He said only God is good when the rich man came to Him.When the man with 6000 demons was in His sight He healed Him today man would put him in jail for 100 years,That is my point and I believe that is what Jesus was saying Agree or disagree and this is the time and the place to talk about the mercy of God.If not here than where?

Great Question!
The opening statement drew attention, and your comment brings us to the point He makes. No one is holy enough to merit eternal life . Jesus came to earth ;lived a perfect life;to show the way God requires to be Holy enough to live with Him,then loading His own Son with all sin (yours and, mine as well as those who have lived and died and those who have yet to live) and CRUCIFIED HIM so He could offer a plan whereby some can live with HIM forever. He gives us only one requirement. Agree with Him that He did indeed send His Son as a sacrifice for our UNHOLINESS (sins)
That is it .....but the rest of the story is He will spiritually inhabit your life and changes will come about that you can only surprise and joyfully amaze!!!!

I'm not exactly sure if you're trying to get a true answer here, or if you're just trying to get a bunch of non-christians pissed off. Yes, Christ said that one sin was the same as the other, but according to the text, sin is sin in God's eyes. This means that he does not see murder in the same light as us. All sin is forgivable, with the exception of lying in the name of the holy spirit. I got the feeling when you used "precious Jesus" that you weren't really looking for an answer. The purpose of this site is to actually find answers, not get everyone's panties in a bunch, okay? :D

We know, humanly speaking, that it is a much worse offense to murder than to lie. Jesus came to fulfull the Law, and used this as an example of explaining that no one is capable of keeping the Ten Commandents, not in every point. Many people will say they believe in the Ten Commandents, but if anyone is counting on keeping them all as a way to go to Heaven, he/she will find himself/herself tragically disappointed. Most of us has stolen some small object, even as a child; that makes us technically a thief. Each of us has told a fib or more likely, a big fat whopper of a lie....you guessed it,;we're all liars. Most of us has looked with "lust" on someone, and that according to the commandments, make us an "adulterer." Jesus simply meant....guilty on one point, guilty of them all IF you're counting righteousness on keeping the commandments. He came to offer Himself a living sacrifice to absolve, forgive, and wash us clean from all unrighteousness and every sin.....even one as black as murder. We agree on one point, for sure; we should all be humbled by His great love and mercy. [He is so very precious to me]

Be encouraged Cindy, for we are not of this world, but we are
in it! .....come Lord Jesus, do not tarry!
Yes All sin is the same in Gods eyes!
You no doubt love the Lord very much and so do I.
John 15:18-25
18 "If the world hates you, keep in mind that it hated me first. 19 If you belonged to the world, it would love you as its own. As it is, you do not belong to the world, but I have chosen you out of the world. That is why the world hates you.

What Christ is meaning here is that there are no "levels" of sin. Sin is sin. There are no "little white lies" if you lie its a sin, if you steal its a sin. If you murder someone its a sin. Sin is Sin. It is man who has put "levels" on sin. A lie is less than stealing etc. You must ask for forgiveness for all your sins. He does not see that your sin is less that the other persons, he just sees that you sinned and so did the other person.

naw, we just shouldn't look at the bible too literally. He likes speaking in riddles sometimes. Part of His humor, anyway. Why not search for the good stuff in something rather than what can make it bad right? Better to take what is right, like loving your enemies and forgiving everyone. Makes better sense doing that. =)

It just means that we are all sinners. We are not supposed to look at others and say...they are worse. All sin is offensive to God. All sin put him on the cross...no one can feel they are exempt.
But there are 4 sins that "cry to heaven for vengeance" and murder is number one on that list.

I think alot of people answering think that you are calling yourself better than them. To me it is obvious you are not. People do not like to hear they have sinned, its insulting to the non believer because they are full of foolish pride. However, I honestly believe one must feel condemned before feeling grace. If you do not feel condemned by sin when you accept Jesus, then you have not really accepted Him. When people fully grasp the concept of sin and the holiness of God they begin to feel condemned, it is then that they let go of their pride and humble themselves before God accepting Christ as their Lord and savior. God bless.

He says that so that we do not fight and boast who is better than others. His grace saves us. We all fall short from the glory of God. He loves us all and His offer is the same for everyone. : )
