Hi Neil, I have wondered about this myself at times and I can only imagine that when God created the world and all life upon it, it was very primitive life and Mankind too was created just above the animals and plants etc, it could well be that when we read in Genesis that God said` Let us make Man in our own image and likeness` He intended to raise Man above this primitive state and imbue Him with higher intelligence so that He could come to know God through time.
There is a lot of mystery to our existence and perhaps somethings will never be answered to our satisfaction, this is something that we have to put up with especially as we as a people are so inquisitive by nature, or is it simply that God has put this trait into us so that we would search for Him in our lives?

No, God created man. Man decided to become Neanderthal and that miffed God off, so he threw him out of the garden and said go GRUNT elsewhere.

My own thinking is that Adam and Eve lived for millions and millions of years before The Fall. They were forbidden to eat from the Tree of Knowledge, but not the Tree of Life.

This reconciles the "old earth" and "new earth" controversy.

To make intelligent people question the literal truth of the Bible. You see, God hates smart people. He wants them all to go to Hell so he doesn't have to justify his actions to them. He much prefers unthinking sheep for followers.
