Press and hold the power button to shut it down...

if you are using windows xp professional, you can go to the control panel, then administrative tools and open the event viewer... that should give you a list of items the computer was doing instead of shutting down and help you correct the problem

Something frozeup in the software. Happens in Windows sometime, especially early xp, 2000 and 98. Just hold the computer power buttong down for 6 seconds. It will shut down completely. Wait a few seconds, the turn it back on.

First run your AV program then your spyware program to make sure your computer is clean.

Then run scandisk on XP called error checking, this should sort of the problem, if it does not then try the following.

clicked start then run & typed Msconfig, then un-ticked Load System Services box then clicked OK – shutdown & restart
a few times, then go back on yourself & re-ticked the Load System Services box.

If this does not work come back to me.

P.S. dont hold down the power switch to force shut down this will damage your OS & hard drive, if you have to force shutdown use this program.

Unplug your PC, wait for 2 minutes and plug it back in and power up.

If the problem persists, your PC is infected.
