There is a "mismate shot" - Estradiol Cypionate (basically, estrogen) - but many vets refuse to use it because of the potential for negative side-effects. Some vets are now using prostaglandins (P. F2Alpha), which appear to be more safe and can be used for a longer time post-mating - so you can confirm pregnancy before giving the treatment.
Neither of these are 'birth control', however - they do not prevent the conception, they simply terminate the pregnancy if it does occur.

I ask my vet the same thing lol it has been so long ago I can't really remember all what she said so I don't want to repeat anything..but I did tell her if she would invent this shot she would make a fortune lol I think that would be a blessing for them to do that but like everything else if they did they wouldn't make money on spayed and neutering. I really think if a vet really wanted to do this there would be away for them to do this. I am really surprise with modern technically that we have now.... that they haven't figure things like this out.

yes there is. My vet will not do it. It is highly dangerous and the percentage of dogs dyeing from the shots is very high. I don't rember the name of it. Due to the fact that it did not matter to me. I would not let my dog dye. I spend a lot of time under google looking up pregnancy in dogs.& welping pups.
Even as a breeder with 10 years under my belt I can still come up with a problem. even my breeder with30 years under her belt can come up with a problem. Right now with past due puppies. But think they are on the way and heartbeats still all sound fine. Just taking a little longer to bake this time we all are guessing.

Zonagen Inc., of Massachusetts, announced in 1990, 1991 and 1994 that it had almost perfected a similar contraceptive vaccine, called Zonavax, for female dogs and cats

There is indeed a contraceptive injection for dogs - your vet can tell you the name. I wouldn't advise it tho - if you don't want your dog to get pregnant, there is really no better option than spaying. The injection cannot after prevent pyometra and mammary tumours (common in older unspayed bitches).
If she ain't gonna use her uterus, get it whipped out before it causes problems!

Yes there is, although most vets will not recommend it because of the potential side effects and complications. They are usually called "mismate" injections, but it can be one of several drugs. Heres some more info.

NO!
There is a hormone that DELAYS estrus=BAD idea=for timing of show/performance reasons.
Rarely used,as it should be.
And ....the "mis-mate" shot causes abortions,NOT prevents pregnancy.

Sadly, I don't think so - talk to your vet about getting her spayed.
