In some ways, yes. In other ways, no. First off, to say the whole "Christian Right" is: money hungry, power hungry, distorting the message of Christ, and dishonoring the message of Christ would be incorrect. Not all of the "Christian Right" are the extremists that people often refer to or see on the news.

However, if we say that you are just asking about the "Money and Power Hungry Christian Right" then I say that you answered your own question. If they are greedy for money and power then they have set something higher than Jesus in their life and in that way they are distorting and dishonoring his message.

There is always a danger of distorting the message of Christ... and not surprisingly, power and money have always been part of the problem. Consider Judas and the30 pieces of silver. Some things never seem to change.

KJV: For every tree is known by his own fruit. For of thorns men do not gather figs, nor of a bramble bush gather they grapes. [Luke 6:44]

Election of current president of USA (fruit) was strongly influenced by voters from the "Christian Right" (tree).

Yes, this began immediately after Christ's death.

Just focus on your own personal journey. It is between you and God only.

Whatever you give your attention to gains power.

Nothing new there...... its exploitation, same as it always has been!
That is the keystone of Christianity!
I have often wondered though...why ?,if the churches make so much money for 'god' ,then don't you think they should cough up for a couple of hearing aids for 'god and his son'???
Seems to me they are having a lot of trouble hearing those who pray to them!
