I have no intentions of doing anything professional with this which is why I'm likely to side with the XT, plus I could use that 200 to buy a lens or two, haha. So is there a reason I SHOULD consider the XTi?

Yes

The Xti has some great improvements.

XTi has 10mp
9 focus points
better continous drive
A much better LCD panel
And dust removal

All these mean better shots, more of the shots being in focus, better quality shots allow cropping out bad spots, and dealing with cleaned pictures. I would think I want this for my personal pics as much as my pro pics.
