Hi,

I have had a problem with fluid retention since about 15 years of age. In the morning I wake up and my legs are normal, by the evening, they are swollen to nearly twice their size. I can literally feel them swelling throughout the day. I am prescribed water tablets but doc does not like me taking them all the time but I cannot get through a day without them! I look like a freakshow without them. I never ever eat salty foods - I hardly eat because I am so scared of the swelling and no matter what I eat - they swell. I tried drinking more water, kept this up for about 4 months and the problem did not cease in the slightest. What is wrong with me? I can't even go out at nighttime because none of clothes fit me once I have swelled up. It's not uncommon for me to weigh in at 51kg having eaten small amounts and taking a tablet and then weight in at nearly 56 kilos the next day after eating standard meals and not taking a tablet. I can't live like this!!

sounds like you have excess water in your body. You should take cleansing supplement to get rid of the water bloating that you have. After that you will not have that problem.

Hi, fluid retention has nothing to do with what you are eating unless your salt intake is high, which you say it isn't, so try not to compromise your condition by thinking if you don't eat it will help, stick to a well balanced diet. Your doctor has got you on diuretics, which should be helping. I would seek a second opinion, just to check out your kidneys. When you go to bed you will find it helps if you put a pillow under your legs, should help with the swelling. Do your legs ache, you didn't say.

You need a different doctor. You should get some tests done to find out what this is all about. I was going to suggest drinking more water, water pills, cut out salt....but you say you have done all of these. Go and get a second opinion. This is abnormal, and our bodies are our loudest voise when something is wrong.
Good Luck.

CUT SODIUM ! ! This will do overnight wonders for you. You should only eat between 1800-2000mg of sodium a day. It will surprise you how much sodium many foods have in it, esp. soup and processed food. By cutting sodium, you'll lose weight, lower your blood pressure, and that swelling will diminish.

You might like to look into diuretics that bodybuilders use. Caffeine might help as well since it's an osmotic substance.
