what the hell happened? Che cazzo e succeso?

What the hell is wrong with you is kind of tough... "che cazzo fai?" is "what hell are you doing?"

Ma che c'e? Is 'what's up with you?"

All above absolutely correct, but here's my take:

"What the hell happened?!?"
"Che diavolo/cazzo è successo?!?", if you think something is suddenly changed in your relationship or maybe "Che diavolo/cazzo sta succedendo?!?" if you think the not so appropriate behavior is still on ("What the hell is happening?!?")

"Ma si può sapere che diavolo hai?" ("polite angriness", imply you're pissed off, you're disappointed by his behavior, but you still care he recover; like saying "Why the hell are you hurting me...?!"); also "Ma perché ti comporti così?" ("Why are you acting this way?", implying a way you not deserve)

"Ma che cazzo hai?!?", "Che cazzo ti prende?!?", "Perché questo comportamento del cazzo?!?", if you're really angry (yeah, whatever happens, for the good or for the bad, it seems both Italian men and women are always male genitals in their minds :)

more exactly: "What the hell happened" may be traslated into "Cosa diavolo e' successo" instead "What the hell is wrong with you" may be "Cosa diavolo non va con te" or "Cosa diavolo hai"

In both cases You may substitute the word "diavolo" (it stays for devil so sounds very near to hell) with the softer form "diamine" (with no corresponding in English, suppose)

Attention! The angry way to say it, don't and I even add DON'T use it in a public situation, tramway, stores, churches, conferences and so on.
