Macs most certainly get bugs, but that's a function of the software developers more than the OS.
Worms, virii and spyware are essentially non-existant - but then again so are some software and game packages you might want to run.
They don't get the bad stuff for two basic reasons: better inherent security regarding executable processes and the fact that hackers are less inclined to target a niche market.

They have bugs , viruses and other problems. Computer experts I know hate macs. In fact I have only talked to a few people that like macs.
Now macs have less viruses because the way everything is setup but the rate of new viruses is steadily increasing as Macintosh grows. Both PCs and macs have bugs. I think PCs have more bugs but PC bugs are either small and hard to fix or large and easy to fix. Mac bugs are all hard to fix and lots of them cause system crashes. Both macs I have owned died on me.
P.S As much as I dislike macs. Todays mac is 10 times better then a mac 5 years ago. I don't mean ram or CPU etc. I mean programing and compatibility/games old macs really really sucked. If macs keep getting better in 5-10 years I might buy one. but thats only if PCs are still better then.

Apart from having a smaller segment of the market, Apple has one big difference from Microsoft. Apple makes its own hardware. Therefore the company has total control over what platform its software runs on. Microsoft depends on other companies to make the computers. A PC can have many options for its CPU, graphics card, network interface, etc. All this choice is great but it means that Windows has to work with all sorts of different configurations. Not every PC manufacturer is careful to use components that are well tested against the latest version of windows. This means that bugs are more likely to crop up and hackers have more features to exploit.

Hackers like to cause problems on the largest possible scale. Given that Mac accounts for less than 5% of the worlds computing resources (mostly elementary schools -- they get them from free from Apple) any hacker isn't going to gain anything by breaking into them. If you buy a Mac, you're basically throwing your money away.

There ARE some viruses for Macs. Dont kid yourself tho when it comes to them being safer! There is only ONE reason! Apple only makes up 5 percent of the computer buying market. People who write viruses are out to infect the masses and dont waste time on that puny 5 percent. As far as I am concerned, there is NO valid reason to buy a Mac!

So, many people argue that Mac is better than a PC. Imagine Mac is better when they’re only 10% of Mac users, while PC gets 90%. Facts, my friend, simple facts; PC is better.
While it is true that Mac is not vulnerable to viruses, I can only be happy for the Mac guy who thinks every Mac user is good.
Because Mac gets a poor percentage of customers, it makes no obvious sense to infect Mac users, because “hackers” can use that valuable time to infect 90% of PC users. Mac runs on a different platform, of course, but that has no reason as to why Mac cannot get a virus. The main reason Mac is not vulnerable to viruses at this time is because Mac is unknown. Hence the fact that they’re only 10% of Mac users out there!
Another thing you need to know. Mac is NOT more powerful than a PC... A Mac is known as editing photos, music and certain documents and art-work. But I have facts again! A PC can edit music, photos, documents and art-work, too! You and I probably do it everyday. But the same story is different with a Mac. However, a PC is known as entertainment. It edits music, photos, movies, and plays the latest technology of games, while a Mac is not known as a game machine. Sure a Mac will play games, but only certain games!!! Mac is limited.
ONLY software that are made by Mac can be used on a Mac. This is an inconvenience for many advanced computer users. However, lets say you can’t afford those DVD Movies that cost $25 for each. With a Mac, you have to buy the DVD Movies because Mac doesn’t make software to circumvent DVD copy rights legally. But with a PC, they’re numerous software that allow you to circumvent DVD movies copy right encryption legally. They’re many MORE things you are going to want to do, and your limits with a Mac will certainly boil your body temperature.
Lightness: The Mac is known as light notebook, but is not the lightest notebook. You can get much lighter notebooks at Sony.com
Because Mac makes notebooks very thin, just don’t ever let the notebook fall off the table, for it will smash like a tomato. Mac notebooks don’t last longer than PC notebooks, either. Such theory is false! Common sense tells you that anything that is thin is easily broken, while things that are thick are harder to be broken. It cannot get any simpler than that.
Ease of Use: PC is known as friendly user, while Mac is not so complimented, either, but PC wins. Note that windows Media 11 is by far better than Itunes. Plus, Windows Media player 11 plays with a stronger, more tasteful sound.
Customer Service: Apple is known as the worst Customer service ever exist to this day. They don’t even offer online Customer service Via live chat, and only 90 days Technical support via over the phone. Plus, I said plus, Mac charges over $300 for warranty. Imagine that!
With a PC, you get online customer service via live chat, much better than talking to a live person over the phone, because they usually consume a lot of your time over the phone. But if you prefer, you can contact via phone, too... And to upgrade your warranty, it only cost $150, not $300!!!
Beautiful interface: The Mac is dulled. The gray, cheap looking is simply dulled. It’s not so what call “ attractive. With Windows, especially Vista, you get a very resplendent Interface, someing that compliments your personality.
The disadvantage of PC: It is vulnerable to viruses, but can be prevented if use an updated Ant virus software, firewall, spy-ware protections with ease. So what? Everyone wanted to beat Mike Tyson. It is the same with Windows, everyone wants to hack it.
Vista is incompatible with many software and hardware at the moment. Do not blame Microsoft, blame the numerous vendors who make third party software for Windows. Nevertheless, Vista will develop just like XP did.
Because I'm a big time fan of Dell computers, I would recommend Dell to you. But that would be your decision.

Windows based PC's are the bigger target... no on that has an ego big enough to write a virus would attack such a small group of users... they want to take down the entire business community to earn their wings.
And believe me they have bugs... just not as many viruses

They are a completely different operating system. I'm tired of Windows as it dominates everything when you download new programs it takes over and locks up your computer.
