Most people really don't pay attention to the things they eat or how much they are really eating. Become aware. Pay attention to all the food and drink that you put into your mouth. Everything. And start counting the calories. Add them up for a day. You might be surprised to see how many calories you consume every day without being aware of it.
Find out how many calories your body needs each day. There are quite a few websites that can help you. And then consume less than that amount. Eat your food slowly. Studies show that people who eat their food slowly maintain their weight more easily and even lose weight.
If your're feeling hungry, that is a good sign because it means that your body has begun using up the fat that it has already stored away. It takes a set amount of calories to maintain your weight at any level and your body is used to getting these calories. Just don't give in. And drink plenty of water, of course.
In order to gain a pound your body has to consume 3500 extra calories. So, it stands to reason that in order to lose a pound, you must burn up 3500 extra calories. So that means exercise.
There are quite a few good exercise tapes out on the market. The best part is that they are area specific. Pick up some good Bun and thigh tapes. Walk more and use some ankle weights. Swimming is a good all around sport, too. It targets your whole body. Do you have a friend that will loan you a Bun and thigh machine? I know those work! So, pick a routine and then stick to it.
Try doing some squats. Or just for starters, some cheater squats. You just sit down on your couch and stand up again quickly. Do this 20 times the first day; without stopping of course. On the second day do it twice, and that means 20 in the morning and 20 in the afternoon. The third day do 60 repetitions, that means 20 3 times a day. And so on. Trust me, you'll feel them. And don't give up!
Most of all, believe in yourself and in your ability to get great results. Keep a picture in your mind of how you want to look for the summer and let this be your motivation.
Let your emotions be a part of this too. Imagine how wonderful you'll feel looking in the mirror and seeing how great you look! Let this feeling be the reason you don't eat that snack or goodie. Remember this feeling when you don't feel like exercising or walking. Let the end result - you looking and feeling great - be the reason you follow it through.
I think you can anything you set your mind to. Good Luck!

There is no magic weight-loss pill, supplement, fad diet, or juice. The ONLY way to lose weight is to consume less calories than you burn. Brad Pitt didn’t get buff for Fight Club by drinking green tea and you won’t either.
The only way to lose weight is to consume less calories than you burn.
To lose weight, experts agree you need to exercise for at least 30 minutes at 60%-70% of your Max Heart Rate (MHR). A simple way to calculate MHR is 220 minus your age. So if you’re 45 years old, for example, your MHR would be 220-45=175. 60% of 175 is 105, and 70% of 175 is 122.5. So you should exercise daily for 30 minutes at a heart rate between 105 and 123.
You don’t need additional equipment—infomercial products like the Ab Lounger, Sauna Belt, etc. are all worthless gimmicks so don’t waste your money.
Eat breakfast, and eat five small meals per day instead of three big meals. If you don't wake up ravenous, then you ate too much the day before. Stop eating at least two hours before you go to bed. Cut back on the foods you eat with high fat and high sugar content. Eat only single servings (read the label) with less than 3 grams trans fat and 3 grams sugars. Become familiar with websites like http://chubbyloser.com that contain good information on what to eat, including supplements.
Don't consume alcohol—alcohol is nothing more than empty calories with no nutritional value. Some people will argue that alcohol has some health benefits when consumed in moderation—I’m not debating that—but we’re talking about weight loss here. Lay off the booze if you want to lose the belly.
Drink lots of water, then drink more. Not tea, not Gatorade, not milk. Water. If your urine isn’t almost clear, you need to drink more water.
Woof.

I did it year before last. 198 to 158 in 4 months, most of the weight loss was in the first 2-3 months, because the last month was muscle gain. I did a combo of the low-cal high-density diet and running 3 miles a day.
I have bad lungs, so running several blocks made me cough and wheeze. I started with a combo of running and walking, while pushing myself as much as I could. I eventually ran the whole way. Eat a snack that's high in protien about 2 hours before running, and drink an entire glass of water. Go to the bathroom, and then find a nice place to go out there and do it. If you think you can run farther than me, DO IT. If you don't push yourself, you won't see results. Key: Don't HURT yourself. I ran 3-4 times a week, but they suggest that you do it daily. Make sure to get two pairs of lightweight running shoes if you're running everyday, because the shoes need a chance to fluff back up after the run. You're supposed to alternate. Also, make sure you drink plenty of water afterwards, and treat yourself to some carbs as well: You're going to need them. (Just try to stick to whole grain bread)
A low cal/high density diet works like this: Some foods are really high in calories and some are really low in calories, right? You are hungry for a certain amount of food to fill your stomach, right? Well, would you rather have a single peice of bacon, or an entire bwol of strawberries? Which would fill your stomach? The point is, you can eat more, while only ingesting so many calories naturally. Stick to raw fruit, veggies, chicken & fish, whole grains, milk products (string cheese, yogurt, frozen yogurt-all low-cal options of course). I ate as much of those foods as I wanted, while avoiding salt, and sauces to the extreme. I also got used to carrying food around with me, incase I got hungry and felt like a vending machine was looking tasty. An apple is a pretty tough fruit, and it fits in your purse pretty well too.
With the combonation of eating less calories, and exercising 4-5 times a week, you should easily drop pounds that aren't supposed to be there. Good Luck!

find calorie/fitness calculator on the net, enter your stats, take 300-400 calories off that number and that's how much you need to lose weight.
5-8servings of fruit and veggies a day
8 glasses of water a day
5-6 small meals instead of 3 big ones (breakfast is the most important - make sure to get complex carbs like whole wheat bread, oatmeal, fruit etc)
4-6 times a week cardio for 30-50min, light weight training, many reps
no junk food, no sodas, no alcohol, no white flour (cakes, cookies, white bread, pasta etc.), nothing high in sugar (ice cream)

my figure sounds just like yours, so i know how u feel.
don't necessarily fpcus on losing the 25 lbs but on toning work the muscles & do some cardio along with it. you need to focus on workin the muscles so you loose inches, possibly weight but maybe not cause muscle weighs more than fat, you're just replacing the fat thats there with muscle by toning, and you'll look good
