BAGHDAD - The U.S. military death toll in March, the first full month of the security crackdown, was nearly twice that of the Iraqi army, which American and Iraqi officials say is taking the leading role in the latest attempt to curb violence in the capital, surrounding cities and Anbar province, according to figures compiled on Saturday.

The Associated Press count of U.S. military deaths for the month was 81, including a soldier who died from non-combat causes Friday. Figures compiled from officials in the Iraqi ministries of Defense, Health and Interior showed the Iraqi military toll was 44. The Iraqi figures showed that 165 Iraqi police were killed in March. Many of the police serve in paramilitary units. However, the war supporters in the USA do not care about these numbers. It's business as usual. That's the Bush way.

The only thing wrong with this picture is that we are still there. Iraq needs to take over their own freaking country.

The US effort in Iraq is simply throwing away money, lives of US troops and Iraqi civilians, and any positive image the US had in the world particulary in the middle east. There is no benefit to anyone except, I am more and more convinced, Bush's little power circle who are finding lots of ways to profit. Everyone is paying the price to enrich a few who care nothing about the world. The question is, why can't anyone seem to stop it?

What is wrong with fighting to win? That is when attrition takes over, our troops should be given freedom from the political restraints and allowed to deal with the bad guys. Only after victory can there be peace. True in any conflict.

the elephant in the room is that the bush administration has lied to us AGAIN.

we never should have gone into iraq in the first place.

so bush deals with this blunder by INCREASING america's committment to this tragic farce.

i don't know how the rest of you feel about it, but those who continue to support this fiasco will never get my votes ever again.

any politicians who continue to support the war in iraq (not afganistan, which i think is a just and righteous cause) will never get my support ever again.

ever.

time to start playing for keeps with these doublespeak ****** politicians...

What's wrong is the idea that increasing the number of troops will reduce the conflict.

The more troops, the more fighting, the more casualties.
That's the basic nature of warfare.
