I have short to medium hair, its bleached but it doesnt look yuck. My ends arent really that split of what i can tell, theyre just dry but they break off a bit but it doesnt look like its getting any shorter. My mums tryna make me get a trim, but since im trying to grow it out a bit so i dont wanna get like much trimmed off at all. do you think the hairdresser will let me get like 2 or 3 mm of at the most?
And dont say just get a haircut or anything. what if i just told the hair dresser person to just be really carefull? or just see if they say i need a trim.

Oh, and i just looked at my hair and i cant see many splits, but when i like squeeze the ends theres a tiny little crunching/ kinda sizzling sound. is that just them pressing together'?

2-3 mm is so short. That's not even 1/2 a centimeter. LOL I don't think a hairdresser can cut that little unless she or he spends a lot of time on your hair going over each very small section one by one and snip out that much off. Most of them don't have that kind of time unless you want to pay them to do it all day. If you have a lot of patience and time, you can snip it yourself. I do that, but it does make your eyes crossed a little. LOL

If you're trying to grow your hair out, it's best to stay away from the salon. However, there are long hair friendly salons that will be more likely to give you the trim you're looking for. You could take matters into your own hands and lightly "dust" your hair. Dusting is trimming a tiny, tiny amount of the ends off the hair that is split. If your hair is already starting to break, you may need a trim in order to attain the longer hair you desire. Yes, I know hair grows from the root and not the end but if your ends are as bad as they sound, they are eventually going to break off.

(-: I like long hair on a guy. My husband has great hair, and he refuses to get it cut until it's really in his eyes and he's quite shaggy. And I don't mind. But his mom! She's on his case!

If it is crunchy, you need to cut out the bleach and get a better conditioner. Chamomile tea helps lighten hair, and it's very gentle and good for the hair. Try it -- a pack of tea is cheaper than a bottle of hair-dye.

And you should ask the hairdresser to trim it 2 or 3 mm. If s/he can't do it, change stylists or barbershops. You may want more off the bangs.

The best thing to do is take a picture of the hairstyle you eventually want, and show it to your barber or hairdresser. They can tell you the best way to get it, and how much you really need to cut off of your hair.

Good luck!

Bleaching will dry out your hair, and if you only have a few split ends now, you can count on them getting much worse if you don't get a trim soon, they'll just keep splitting and you'll end up with horribly frizzy hair.
Just get a small trim, but enough to keep your hair looking healthy, besides, there's no point having long hair if it looks like sh#t.

Your hair is dry and you do need a bit of a trim. You can show your hairdresser how much you want trimmed. I would say 1/4 an inch. they will usually do what you want but Im always leery of hairdressers so I try and pick a good salon. Hope you are using a conditioner?

Try and find some hair conditioner, like what girls use. It'll probably help with the dryness. I don't think you can only get 2 or 3mm cut, I think the minimum they can cut off is 1 or 2 cm, but getting your hair trimmed every once in a while makes your hair grow better and healthier.

hey, i feel you, i have been trying to grow my hair out for a while. Actually a good trimming will help it grow. It will just slpit all the way to the root if you don't get the slit ends cut off. Yes, you can just ask them to be very careful, but you should let them know that you are trying to grow it all, and they will just trim off all of the slipt ends, which will help it grow. Good luck sweets!

if you git that hair dresser talking and they keep bableing you will find a huge pile of hair on the ground especially if your ma likes you with a super dehumanized hair cut shell make some hand motions for the hairdresser to put the ax to your hair and youll be caught up with the hair dresser stroking your scalp cause it feels good to be touched before you know it you will have a flat top instead of looking like your going to donate it to people who cant grow there hair if you dont want a hair cut dont keep going to the barber saying im not getting a hair cut my ma suckers me in to this oh well just have them shape it and before you know it ive 3 hair cuts in a short time and im freezeing cold from it and i dont have my long hair no more but she says she likes me with long hair ya she does well im sick of the magiver look

just get a trim. healthy hair grows better. if you hear crunching sounds, then your hair is dry, and won't grow properly. just a little trim every 6 weeks. condition the ends to keep them healthy.

believe it or not getting a trim would help. and even though you don't have split ends yet, you will. It's like if you take an inch of hair you get two back. so it may take a while, but its worth it.
