Okay I'm graduating high school this year in grade 12 and I'm thinking of asking a girl i really like to the prom. She's the same age is me, but the only thing is that she won't be graduating this year because she is grade. She's one grade back because when she moved to my country a dew years ago, they made her go back a grade, even though we are the same age. Do you think I would still be able to take somone to the prom who is not graduating or in the same grade??

I know at alot of high schools if a senior asks a younger studnet then the younger student can go to the prom. You should ask a teacher or school offical about the rules for your prom, just to make sure.

Good Luck

Absolutely, take the lady to the prom. the followings is a true story.

I'm a lot older than I want to say.

When I was a Sr. in HS. I was leaving school one afternoon when a rather high classed unattainable sweet soprano singing little lady walked up to me half crying that no one had asked her to the Jr. Prom. I really didn't give a hoot about going as I had a girlfriend in another nearby town. The trouble was,
I'd missed the last two yrs. of my HS activities because of another sweetie who was real religious and her beliefs had kept me away from dances and or any HS activities on Friday and Saturday nights.
When I pulled in our driveway I told my mom what had just happened concerning the girl with no date. My mother knew the girls parents and bossed me in the house and twisted my arm to ask this little queen to go to the dance. I crumbled and called her, she accepted and we had a great time. I had no Idea how great it was till 40 yrs. later. My sister demanded I do to her 40th. graduation breakfast at a newly built pavilion / 8 ballfield athletic site in town. I'd missed my 40'th reunion as Our daughter was married on the same day 325 miles away. I talked with a few guys from my sisters class beneath the huge pavilion when all of a sudden an extremely beautiful girl started starring at me.
For a few seconds I thought she was looking at someone else. This woman is every bit as pretty as the lady Dr. on the TV program House. She was headed straight at me with her bright blue flashing. As she sailed closer Her name and face flsahed into my simple mind.
It was a good thing my wife wasn't with me as this little doll sailed into my arms and proceded to hug the life out of me against the same ample chest she had in high school.
Get this, I was so respectful of her at the HS. dance, I treated her as a protective brother the entire nite of the prom.
Minutes later I said: Ya know what? I was too afraid of asking you for a kiss on prom nite would now be OK? Wow, I had'nt finished the words and her sweet lips were planted on mine for a very long time. She profusedly thanked me for taking her to the Jr. prom even though she was a Sophomore and I was a Sr. at the time. You see everything worked the way it did because she and her parents went to the same little Presbyterian Church we did. Her mom and my dad sang in the same church choir.
To cut a long story short we corrispond today even though we're both happily both married and our spouses know nothing of our "kieeaaiiss"! As only Prince can say!

Unless the school has some rule that says only gratuating seniors can go to the prom (and some do) I see no reason why you can't take her. Maybe she will respond in kind and take you to her prom next year.

I don't see what the big deal is about that matter. I think it is irrelevent and anybody who thinks it is relevent can't be that bright in the head. I say ask her out to prom. Don't let anybody else's thoughts and beliefs keep you from asking her.

ask some of your friends about it. or find someone who is running the prom.. like a teacher. I dont think it should matter, but just to be safe, get some other input

Yes. This is very common. My HS has a Junior-Senior Prom, and I took a Sophomore my junior year.
