Oil-- like from Texas?

Yes.

Margarine is nasty - its hydrolyzed oil, the process it goes through to stiffen it up makes it WORSE for you than actual butter. Full of trans-fats. The softer a margarine is (tubs, not sticks), the better it is for you.

Yep, Margarine is Hydrogenated vegetable oil, I for some reason prefer the flavor of those made with soy bean oil.

so what.....? that's not important in and of itself.
It's the fact that most older style margarines have to 'harden' the oil by making it a trans-fat that makes margarines utterly abd for you.

But now there are new margarines that are not trans-fats and are actually healthier for you than butter.

As far as taste...I don't try to get my flavor from the fats...use better recipes and spices.

Have you been reading that *theory* in "The Origins of Fats"?

You know, Darwin recanted on his deathbed and asked forgiveness for denying Butter (FBUF [Flavor Be Upon Food]).

That science stuff will NOT save your soul!

Now if margarine only came scented and flavored we'd have an orgy. *sigh*
