Be logical. Don't just say "because God inspired it" or some other useless explanation.

None of you are giving INTELLIGENT answers. Most Christians that I have met cannot do it. Only a minority of them can.

Epitome_inc, the Bible has let you down. It said that Jesus would come back soon. I don't see Jesus anywhere. Has the end of the world occurred yet? I didn't think so.

Note: I have studied the Bible for twelve years. It is full of lies and bigotry.

Let me clarify myself. I AM TALKING ABOUT THE SCIENTIFIC ASPECTS OF THE BIBLE. The morals are good on the whole. In fact, our popular notion of morality comes from the Bible.

Hmm. This is a toughy. Trust-faith. Faith-trust. Trust-faith. Faith-trust. Since the two are mutually inclusive of each other and interchangeable, I don't "almost unquestioningly trust the Bible", I trust it completely. It's called faith-period. And what aspects of science are you babbling about specifically concerning the Bible? The only science that was ever applied to it was in confirming the authenticity of its timeline and accuracy of literary analysis- it's called forensic linguistics. And speaking of logic, why are you, an atheist, inquiring about something you don't believe in anyway? Why would you care whether or not Christians question it a little, or alot? You're an atheist, remember? Do I inquire as to why an atheist doesn't believe in God? No. Why? I don't care. That's why. "Some other useless explanation"? You don't want an answer;in logic, "some" has the force of "at least one, if not "all". So any answer a Christian gives you will never suffice. You merely want to get into a pissing match with someone. Go elsewhere and amuse yourself.

Because, even the vast majority calling themselves Christians, do not know what the Bible really says. So, they can't give you any decent answer. And of the true Christians, they could give you a truthful answer but you would not understand because God will not put his Holy Spirit upon ungodly people so as to give them understanding, so an answer concerning God has no meaning to you. Jesus is back in presence, he is separating the sheep from the goats, by your own admission you are making yourself a goat at this time, want to know what comes next?

They trust it because they were born into a culture which supports trusting the Bible. If they had been born in Iraq, they would be Muslims; if they had been born in India, they would be Hindus; in Tibet, they'd most likely be Buddhists; 6000 years ago, in ancient Egypt, they'd have worshipped Amen-Ra; in some other culture and/or time period, they would worship their ancestors. What you believe depends a lot on where you are born and not on some divine revelation from an invisible deity.

Truthfully I trust the bible because I believe in God and Ive been told since I was young that to believe in God meant to believe in the bible. But honestly I dont think is the bible that inspires me to follow God. When I was 10 I couldnt wait to get away from church and when I was confermed as a catholic, which was all my parents wanted, I quit practicing. When I got to college I started going again. I believe in God because I believe I can feel him working in my life. Im not a mushly lovie dovie christian who preaches that the love of jesus runs my life and it should run everyone elses, but I believe in God because I have a feeling that hes really, and everything in exsistene, to me, is proof of his existence. The world, human anatomy, outerspace, even chemistry looks like and functions like it was constructed by something or someone. By saying that were luckly that everything just happened to fall in place for us is to easy. Science shouldnt exclude God, you shouldnt have to choose between being a scientists and man of God.

I have this feeling that no matter what we say, you will pre-judge us as being not intelligent enough for you. Are you even willing to listen to us, or is it that we have to fit into your nice neat little box and deny the Bible to be considered "credible"?
I've been a Christian most of my life and I do trust the Bible. Why? Because what I have read makes sense. It's like a large reference book for me. It covers everything from how to get along with people, how to live for God, and how to love other people. It covers a lot more than that, so for me, the Bible makes a lot of sense.

I've witnessed and been the person touched by miracles many times. I've seen enough to know that the Bible is true, and secondly, if the Big Bang theory is true, make a bird. No, seriously. Make a bird. If we evolved from things like carbon molecules, then how about you make a bird out of your carbon molecules?

years and years of study of the Bible has proven to me to be well worth my time and trust.
As far as you saying be logical, it appears that your question goes against logic. Why would you be so general, why not be specific with your question? What exactly is it that I should not trust about the Bible? Have you read it, tried living by it? If so, what did you discover (be specific) ?
But I am very sure that you will not be giving an answer to my question. You can email me, I am not one of the wimps who won't take email. I get lots of email and respond to anyone who writes respectfully asking questions or giving opinions.
I'll be waiting for yours!!!!!!!!

Because atheists don't believe in God, but have no explanation of where we came from. The bible is the only thing that makes sense. If you want logic, what is more logical, to believe that we came about by accident, or that our perfect bodies, world, pets are an accident, or that a loving God made us that way?

I think for most Christians blind obedience can help carry them through this rough and tumble life. I can't fault them for that it helps them psychologically. What I do fault the Christians on is their inability to not judge others. Goddammit the Lord says "judge not the ye be judged" listen and obey the book you believe and stop judging me. Worry about yourselves!

First, I can't prove anything about GOD.
If I had been the only person to ever ride a rollercoaster, I couldn't prove how I felt.
I could only tell you about those feelings.
Now, befor I got saved, I mentally agreed that Jesus was real, but didn't really Believe it.
When about dead and called out on HIM, Bleweeeeyyy!!! HE answered.
I still cannot prove GOD or the Feelings I had.
But NOW I DO BELIEVE--in GOD!
Jesus made it possible.
I trust the Bible, cause I BELIEVE GOD had it written. Still can't prove it!
Ditto...................
