Tanning beds are more dangerous and can cause burns, suppression of immune systems, damage to the cornea, cosmetic and drug-induced photosensitivity, and a higher risk of developing melanoma cancer.
Because there are no laws governing the use of tanning beds, people are free to use them as long and as often as they like. Majority of tanning salons do have restrictions about usage but these are rules set up by the salon, not the government. Every person interested in developing a tan via indoor tanning needs to have a full understanding of tanning bed dangers so they can make educated and safe choices.
Most tanning beds release very high and dangerous levels of ultraviolet radiation.
With most people using indoor tanning on a short-term basis causes itchy, dry skin while long-term use causes wrinkled and sagging skin. Making things more serious is the fact that many people also take tanning accelerants as a way of speeding up the tanning process.
Tanning beds emit from 50% to 100% the amount of UV rays than from natural sunlight, so you would be safer lying out on the beach for a few hours.
If you want to tan, be wise about the amount of time spent and the frequency of using indoor tanning beds.

To much of any thing is bad. Everyone needs some sun light as that is a good source of vitamin D, but the sun & tanning beds both have the same rays.

They are both bad for your skin but tanning beds are much worse. One 45 minute session in a tanning bed is like spending a whole day in direct sunlight unprotected.

Regular sun should be more dangerous and destroy your skin cells, and will get skin cancer. i don't know about tanning bed but if there's no UV light should be safer. Do you know you will age very fast under the sun? I'm using www.airellis.com, www.lexwel.com, this co. have good knowledge about skin care, just arrive in S'pore. If you are interested, you can contact my beautician Eileen at 98777604, just mention my name Janice Tang. You can get alot of knowledge from her.

Both are dangerous, but a tanning booth is worse because it's more concentrated and stronger and in a smaller area.

They're both bad. If you want a tan, go to a beauty store that sells a good self-tanner. And don't hestiate to ask the people that work there, they are trained to help you :)

No, but it's not any safer, either. Tan = damaged skin. Sunless tanners are safer.
